Chili - Beans or no beans?

Last night I had chili without beans for the first time (that I can remember anyway). Even though many people insist that true, authentic chili doesn't have beans, I prefer beans in my chili - they add additional texture and flavor to it.

Do you prefer your chili with or without beans?

If the chili has beans in it I wont even look at it, whatever beans are in it are disgusting. If people just put normal baked beans in there then it would be fine.

beans a are a filler. i find that the farther north you go the more beans it has. it's kinda weird! I never put beans in my chili.

When you are in the middle of a cattle run, you probably don't have meat, but you would have beans in your provisions.

I've never had home made chili without the beans. I've had chili with no beans from the can, it wasn't bad, awesome on a hot dog, but other than that, I've always had it with beans.

There is a chili competition in rockford every year. it's huge! maybe 100 booths. it cost $10 to get in but then you get free cups of chili. 95% do not have beans. most of them are darn good.
