Chick-fil-A

Were planning on doing a huge meal tomorrow so I was thinking of trying Chick-fil-A tonight since I've never been there.

What are the best things to order there?

The wife digs peaches and I'm pretty partial to them as well. Ill definitely try the shake.

Just try their original chicken sandwich and waffle fries combo. Can't go wrong with that.

They have a plethora of sauces too. BBQ, Polynesian (sweet & sour), chick-fila sauce, ranch, hone mustard, honey roasted bbq, and more.

The chicken sandwich was freakin good. The fries were okay, could have been more crispy. I was really looking forward to the coleslaw and peach shakes but they don't have coleslaw anymore and the peach shakes are a summer thing I guess.

Still the best chicken sandwich I've ever had aside from home made.

I was reluctantly dragged there by coworkers for lunch a few weeks ago. I was an idiot for not eating there before, the deluxe chicken sandwich is damn good.

The Frosted Lemonade is great on a hot day, basically vanilla ice cream blended with lemonade. Very refreshing.

The chicken tenders with Chick-fil-a sauce are great too.

Chicken sammich no pickle, add mayo, enjoy. I even put mayo on their waffle fries, they have kickass mayo.

Yes. Well, not on the fries. But yes to the sandwich part. Fuck pickles. Whoever teamed them up with chicken sandwiches needs a good tar and feather session for their blasphemous ways. Pickles should be left to rot on the ground, they would be in a sane world.

Also, I hate coleslaw, but when did they stop serving it there?! Anyone know?

I wonder if there was a recall, or an area shortage or something. I cannot imagine a southern-style chicken shop without coleslaw. While anathema for me, it is something divine for much of the South. One of many reasons I find them to be a weird people.

Oh, I'm down, don't you worry! lol

And yeah, of course that's not true of all southerners. Just like not all we Polish (I'm 12.5% yes I did the math because 25% could have gotten me a scholarship at a local university!) like Gołąbki (golumpki, stuffed cabbage), or for that matter, cabbage in general. All that shit, let it rot! hahaha

But I'm a plantist - I just don't like all the plants. Many are certainly better than others. I will probably not live a long and healthy life, but I cannot for the life of me remotely enjoy eating most vegetables. Just can't do it.

I've been postulating a theory that perhaps burning your tongue on coffee or other hot beverages helps lead to a greater decline in taste. I avoided burning, one quick sip and nooope, I'll wait thanks. And I can taste a shred of lettuce mixed in with the cheese and everything else when eating tacos or anything of that like. And people tell me it doesn't taste like anything. BS as I never even saw it to psyche myself out. Chew chew chew wait, eww WTH?

I love pickles AND coleslaw, and hail from the Northeastern US so it's not a Southerner thing. Maybe you're a "supertaster," someone who can pick up on the bitter thiocyanates in Brassica spp.?

Spicy chicken deluxe sandwich with pepper jack.

Grilled chicken sandwich is usually good.

Waffle fries can be awesome, or they can be awful (hate when they come out dry and the salt didn't stick to them). Hope you get the awesome kind.

Chicken biscuit or spicy chicken biscuit are often good.

Chicken breakfast burrito can be awesome, or it can be blah.

Split sweet tea + lemonade with light ice is almost always awesome.

They stopped serving coleslaw last year. But you can still get at the original Dwarf house locations in GA.

Coleslaw wasn't big seller. Most people just get waffle fries. How can you hate coleslaw? Do you have a palate of a five year old?

I didn't even know they served Frosted Lemonade until now. I checked Chick-fil-A app and they also have Frosted Coffee, and Frosted Strawberry Lemonade. Later today, I'm going to order using the app and drive 2 minutes to the local Chick-fil-A to try the Frosted Strawberry Lemonade.

I thought they used breasts, like every other chicken sandwich?

Correct. If you want a copycat of the original recipe, there's one here: (regular salt & sugar brine, no pickle juice, per the the Chick-fil-a official ingredients list)

Thigh meat tastes pretty awesome though, so if you have something to fry in (deep fryer/wok/Dutch oven/etc.), try both! Also make sure to try his neat little trick from that article for getting the extra-crispy breading on the chicken. The awesome way is on the left, the normal (Chick-fil-a) way is on the right. Both are good, but bonus breading is great!

If you prefer regular southern-style fried chicken, there's also a recipe for that here:

I'll always have a soft spot in my heart (well, my stomach) for the original, transfatty McDonald's Crispy Chicken sandwich (which is just awful now). Love me some fried-chicken sammiches, om nom nom!

Whoa, mine doesn't have the strawberry version, sounds good! The drink version at Red Robin is amazing, so I'd imagine a frosted version would be even better...

Hah, that's true. They are usually awesome, but my last batch was pretty meh.

I did, however, throw some of the big ones in the freezer. Going to make some drawings & possibly a mold out of the die-cut shape, per my ongoing quest to replicate the Chick-fil-a waffle fries at home 😉

Dwarf House locations are being torn down right now. The one in my town is operating a drive through out of some stacked shipping containers as the restaurant is a pile of dirt and rubble. A statement from local CFA marketing officials said the Dwarf House is being replaced with a "new concept."

"Little people house?"

The app is great. The CFA Dwarf House in my town was always RIDICULOUSLY popular, so ordering anything would always take ages. Sometimes you couldn't even get into the parking lot. Now I never wait in line and going inside takes less than half the time of going through the drive thru.
