Cheerleading is retarded.

When I graduated from High School, cheerleaders made up 30% of the top-10 academic performers of the graduating class. One was salutatorian and another was 4th in the class (and I know there was at least 1 more in the top-10 but I forget the exact placing).

They threw each other 15-20 feet into the air and were generally gymnasts of rather high calibre.

Nothing wrong with it.

Being athletic does not make it a sport, an art form like dancing maybe, but not a sport.

It's just another form of gymnastics. I'd love to see you go out there and try to do what they do. OP is just mad cus he got shut down by al the cheerleaders. Even the ugly ones.

There is this lame cheer camp at my school's rec center with a bunch of high school girls (sorry, no pics pervs) learning how to cheerlead. It is the most annoying bullsh!t ever. Cheerleading must be the most retarded "sport". What do you think of when someone mentions "cheerleader"? Words that immediately come up include bimbo, hot, ditzy, stupid, etc. Cheerleaders are mostly looked at as sex objects and nothing more.

Dancing (all kinds) can a form of art, sports is a good way to get kids to exercise, test their limits, whatever, but cheerleading is a form of retardation. Dads, please don't let your daughters be cheerleaders.

Your "Cheertitude" is waaay bad!

You better turn that frown upside down Mister Man!

....Next time you post on this subject, you better include pics or face PERMANENT BAN!

IMO, Cheerleading is a healthy and fit activity.

Cheerleading is the most dangerous "sport" in America. Come again?

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03...rts/31cheerleader.html

"Emergency room visits for cheerleading injuries nationwide have more than doubled since the early 1990s, far outpacing the growth in the number of cheerleaders, and the rate of life-threatening injuries has startled researchers. Of 104 catastrophic injuries sustained by female high school and college athletes from 1982 to 2005 ? head and spinal trauma that occasionally led to death ? more than half resulted from cheerleading, according to the National Center for Catastrophic Sports Injury Research. All sports combined did not surpass cheerleading."

Being healthy and fit has nothing to do with how dangerous it is.

yea at our school they stood there, clapped hands, and did arm motions while facing away from the game.

Cheerleading's a stupid T&A show with no future. The only chance you have at using the skill is hope you get on a professional cheer team. Good luck with that. Those are same people view lottery tickets as an investment opportunity.

False. It is fun, recreational, and entertaining for those involved. Lots of dance instructors were cheerleaders in high school and college.

What about all the guys that play for your favorite college football team? A small, small fraction of the players are drafted. Why play football in college if you are 2nd string with 0.001% chance of hitting the NFL? Why risk the injury?

BECAUSE THEY LOVE THE FUCKING GAME. CHEERLEADERS LOVE THE CROWD.

Dance is an art, gymnastics is an artistic sport, cheerleading is a plebeian T&A show.

You could say the same about any high school sport.

You obviously have never attended a UT football game, or any football game worth a shit.

#1, they cover up. Even their legs.
#2, they are gymnasts.
#3, they are crowd exciters, football chant organizers, spirit builders.

In high school how many people actually go on to be a professional in whatever sport they play? If they're just doing it for fun and to stay fit then who cares?

Besides, what's not to like hot girls in short skirts.

I used to be a cheerleader--and I hated cheerleaders. I was a base (throwing the flyers up in the air), a back (making sure they didn't fall on their heads), and a flyer when I went to military school because none of the other girls knew anything about stunts. It was a lot of hard work, and one girl at camp broke her nose. :

I left camp in my military uniform, I couldn't wait to get the fuck out of there. Cheer and sunshine and shit? No. I hate that. But stunts and all the dancing we had to do really helped to tone my body, and it was fun to be able to concentrate on something.

You guys had crappy cheerleaders then. At my school they did flips, jump, holding people up, all that crazy stuff like in bring it on.

It is pretty stupid. I know that at the competitive level it can be difficult but just its premise is pretty ridiculous.
Sounds like someone got ignored by cheerleaders back in highschool
This is AT, didn't we all?

Haha, yeah that was only to fulfill my PE requirement, and it would get me out of school! So it wasn't all bad...

But those stunts are hard as fuck when those bitch flyers don't know what they're doing
