You were it's guardian, how could you let that happen.
I was thinking the same thing!

EPIC GUARDIANSHIP FAIL!

That spider will stand between RedSquirrel and the Gate to Paradise and the spider will say, you shall pass only after Mortal Kombat with the chipmunk. In the interest of fairness, both have to be the same size. So choose, my failed protector: do you want human sized chipmunk or do you want to be chipmunk sized?

i've named him Juggy (for the water jugs he was hiding between)

I used to see the California brown tarantulas around Lake Don Pedro and in the CA foothills, usually in the fall when they'd go on a walkabout.

I wrote off recliners and sofa recliners thanks to sitting on one and having the biggest fattest mama black widow come crawling out from between the couch seam. This lady was clearly well fed, one of the biggest black widows i'd ever seen (leg span a bit larger than a half dollar piece and abdomen about the size of a marble) under my couch.

Flipped the couch over and there were three of them living in the space for the recliner.

All single piece couches and chairs with coffee tables or ottomans for the legs from then on.

We find a few every year in the house, it scares the bejesus out of me for a second

Which reminds me, i shooed out a small spider this week and i thought it was eating what looked like ants, upon closer inspection they where little spiders, hundreds of them.....got the broom out and swept them outside.....

bb, beautiful butterfly pics. Those zinnias would last about 5 minutes here...the fckn deer would mow them to the ground.

Great shot btw. I wonder how long it took the photographer to get that shot. I love the reflection in the still water.

Bears are like overgrown raccoons - a transport device for a digestive system. Except that bears can bite your head off. That's why you need one of these.

Bears are cute and fluffy. But they will make a mess if they get in your garbage. Had it happen only once so far. Was not fun to clean that up lol.

@Red Squirrel - I'm genuinely curious, how do you keep them out?

I try to avoid putting my garbage out before garbage day, although sometimes they do strike on garbage day! But it's not really a nightly thing where a bear passes by every night, so mostly I don't do much and been lucky except for once.

I heard of people putting ratchet straps on their bins and that seems to help keep them out. If they absolutely wanted to they could rip those off or even cut them with their claws or teeth, but mostly they play around with it for a while then give up.

This summer we actually had a moose in my area, that was quite out of the ordinary lol, big moose just trotting down the street. I totally missed it too, only saw the pics.

@Red Squirrel - wow dude. I'm glad there are still moose around.

Did you know that there's a Moose Lodge. Kinda like the Elks but more blue collar. My gramps and uncle were life long members. Gramma too.

I think they still have outposts around here and every once in a while I think about joining. But as the old Marx Bros. saying goes - I would never join a club that would have me.
