im not saying everyone is like the aformentioned incident. but i wasnt talking about the dude, i was talking about the dirty bitch. she was retarded. and that dude should sue for damages. i can guarentee he can get money (well as much money as they have).

i am not the most racist person, nor am i really even racist. theres just reasons for stereotypes, its not like people just decided to make them up.

yup. I would strongly pursue a civil suit; he already got something from the criminal charges, but a civil suit would be a pretty sure win imo.

All it would have taken was one guy to jump in and help. Just one. Those guys weren't much smaller than that big dude, but they did nothing.
I am 5'7", 140lbs, and would have been broken in half, but I would have gouged his fvcking eyes out. Or bit him. Or something. Anything to stop him from trying to kill this dude.

that guy was really top-heavy and was distracted beating the other guy. a hard kick to his knee (preferably from the side) would have put him in some real pain.

Well I doubt I could have done much by kicking his knee. May'be some salt in the eyes?
I would really wanna go for the eyes. Do some permanent damage.

you'd be surprised at the damage you could do.

you coulda kicked his knee, definitely hurt him....probably tear his knee up nice.

or grab a weapon. a chair, glass, spatula, anything and go to town. you know what a hot slice of pizza does to your eyes?

everyone needs to rent/buy Bas Rutten's ? dvd about personal defense. Greatest investment ever.

Honestly, I don't know what I would have done in that situation. Lotta variables. Heat of the moment, etc?

My gut tells me I'd be dialing 911 and not getting in the mix. Who knows what else that a-hole has on him, if he has gang friends outside, a gun, etc. It's probably not worth it.

Hard to say though. I know that definitely I'd WANT to help, I just don't know if I'd do it. I'm fairly confident that there's not much I could do in that situation by myself. I know I'm not a fighter, am not trained (in any form), etc. Odds are if I did join in, I'd end up being a punching bag too.

Bad situation and I hope I'm never faced with that decision.

Like he would get anything? They'd just declare backrupcy and be done with it.

The better bet is to force restitution for medical bills in the criminal trial. That way, any future wages are garnished and they can't get out of it.

Well the man is already doing the 4 years (I assume this was his criminal charges), but the woman has yet to be on trial, unless this video is really old. And yes ,youre right, they would prob file for bankruptcy...I didn't immediately think of that.

Everyone is questioning why other people didn't jump in and saying how they would've been the hero (or try to be) in this situation. But hindsight is 20/20.

Well how about this, what if the attacker had been confronted by one of the people there, and the attacker had shot him? Or if he had a bunch of his "boys" outside and they came in with weapons? And this is also assuming you are currently un-armed.

Would you still be calling the other people pvssies for not stepping in, or would you be calling the one guy stupid for getting involved?

I'm not saying what I would do either way, but that's just something to chew on.

holy sh!t... i take karate, but every time i see/hear about something like that, it just kinda hits me: you get into a situation like that, there is NOTHING you can do. makes me understand why some people want to carry guns. the dumbass news anchors talking about how so many people were just watching- those guys were scared to death. you know if he had been 100 pounds lighter, at least one or two guys would have stopped him. but unless they managed to coordinate to attack all together in those few seconds, they had nothing.

I would have helped the guy, but I'm 6'9", 300lbs. Would the thought of a gun give me pause? Yep. Especially since he's black (call me a racist or whatever, I call it playing the odds). But I'd have gone straight for the knee and then beat on him furiously until he was either a) unconscious, or b) restrained by the other guys there so that he couldn't get to any gun he might have.

I had a friend that was jumped by a bunch of guys at a party just because he walked into the wrong house on accident and immediately left. They were all black and took it as an insult ("Oh, because we're black you don't want to come to our party?!") so they beat him up. A friend of mine that knew the guy that was beat up since CHILDHOOD just stood there an watched him get beat (mind you, I wasn't there). Granted I'm big, but this guy lifts A LOT and is quite strong. He just stood there while his good friend was beat up. Sad.

Back to the original story, had I stepped in and beat the man unconscious, I wouldn't have been doing it out of hate or racism but because I don't know what kind of weapon ANYONE has, so I've got to make sure that the two of us that just want to order pizza in peace can go about our business. That piece of sh1t would have filed charges and the media would have made the whole thing into the next Rodney King. Jesse Jackson would have been there within the hour organizing a protest and I'd end up guilty of 2nd degree assault, all because I didn't want the innocent guy to get beat down and I didn't want the bigger guy to beat on me. Furthermore, then my name is placed on TV and everyone at my work and in my community that's black questions me and my motives. That creates problems for me in MY life.

Bottom line: I would have stepped in to help him, and I would have been more messed up than the guy who gets 4 years in jail.

It wouldn't be complete if he didn't go for the wallet and cell afterwards.

I wouldn't have done sh!t. Judging by his character he probably had a gun on him.

I probably would not have physically helped, but I'd be dialing 911 and all that. I'm just too small to be trying to beat on adrenaline-spiked big boys.

I could probably take out the chick - maybe sucker punch her in the neck and run.

People wonder why I carry a knife, this is why. That crazy guy started wailiing on me, a few thrusts to the chest and he woulda been done for, otherwise, I probably wouldn't have done anything, people say that they would, but the guy was huge, and the threat of him having a gun would have scared me off, and in trying to be as least racial as possible, it's really not uncommon for big black men to carry guns around, I have had numerous occasions where I have waited in line behind men with the outline of pistols impressed in the back of their t-shirts.

After the first shot you would've been too dazed to do anything. Don't try to kid yourself.

I'll third that
Big guys' knees are usually the weakest part, I know given I'm 6'4" 250lbs

I know that I would want to do something, but I can't tell you that I would be able to until I am in that situation

So true. The only time I ever got whacked hard by a blind side hit I could barely walk and thought I was in Egypt for a good 20 minutes.

yeah, the heavier you are the more wear and tear you put on your knees. a solid kick to the knee will cause bigger guys to collapse under thier own weight. usually there's some damage as a result.

I'm picturing that guy going down after a kick to the side of his left knee.

Too bad the kicker would probably have been charged with a crime, tho.
