I dont think you can get medical grade oxygen with out a perscription... you'd also need a regulator for the amount of O2 you are perscribed... and like dtyn said you can breath 100% pure O2 just not 10 meters under water...

You cannot breath welding oxygen last I checked...

I guess I'll have to look into it

Oh yeah forgot to mention my mother used to set tanks and O2 machines up for peeps in their homes... the store you mentioned thats near you is a home medical supply, same type of place my mother worked at... I can ask her for you if you'll need a script...

Its not a serious thing, I'm just looking for a cheap way to test what my former roommate told me, specifically that breathing O2 for a couple minutes will clear out a hangover like no other.

Such things become more and more pertinent as you near your 21st birthday. Its not like I havent gotten totally tanked before, and I have only gotten one real hangover (not for lack of trying, its just I seem to not get them 99% of the time).... but lets just say I will be surprised to if I do NOT wake up with one after my b-day party

hangovers are more due to dehydration rather than lack of O2 ot your brain. All it will do is give you a kick of energy and wake you up a bit more.

Plenty of water is the cure for a hangover, a hangover is simply dehydration.

I know that, but he swears its a good short term cure, and as long as you do drink a lot of water to rehydrate yourself, its effectively a full day cure. But, if you dont drink water afterwards, you'll start feeling like cr@p in a while. And it clears that muddled feeling. All of this is according to my friend's experience.

I'm not totally convinced, which is why my title reads "cheap methods..."

I know, I know... but the O2 is supposed to bridge the gap between drinking the water and feeling better.

Don't be an idiot, like you're just going to keep an o2 tank lying around for when you get drunk?!

If you want to avoid a hangover, before you go to sleep, drink a lot of fluid, take an advil, and eat something (bread) to absorb what alcohol is left in your stomach. And if you feel like you need to hurl, by all means, do it, then follow previous advice.

If you wanna cure a hangover, take a shot or two of something hard in the morning. Or, drink plenty of water before you go to sleep.

No kidding, nothing like a drip to get you going the next day!

^Oxygen bar supplier.

I'd give you the supplier we got gas cylinders from at my old job, but they have minimum orders and only deliver to research facilities.

Um, any healthcare supplier?

Haven't you seen old people wheeling around oxygen tanks?

If i were going to breath it i would go that route long before doing the welding shop thing.

Edit: Oh and when you post the inevitable "OMG i just blew up half my house with an oxygen tank what do i do" thread, include this one as a reference so we can all feel bad for helping you accomplish this goal. :)

Welding supply shop.

roughly how much are they there (first to get the tank, then to get it refilled)?

I got a small one from the local welding store...750 cubic feet I think for about 50 bucks. it costs less than 10 to get it refilled. Oxygen is highly flammable as well

A partner came in before his wedding and we* fixed him right up. (partied a bit the night before)

Just gave him a little IV fluids and some D50 and he was almost as good as new.

*by we, I mean them, because this is not allowed.

The oxygen won't work for a hang-over. It's about as good as extra strong coffee. Just gets you moving.
