They went to FSU so I doubt an asterisk will make much of a difference... I do agree that this is a terrible precedent though and for a measly 1.5 million.

I suspect what we're seeing is economic reality. FSU has severe budget problems. The state of FL has not recovered from the recession and has cut funding to the universities. The university is facing spending cuts (e.g., laying off profs etc) or must raise a big chunk of $'s.

The same FL state legislature that is rabidly Republican, and was acting to hand the 2000 election to GWB no matter what a recall would have found? Get real.

As for the rest of your comment, yes I think you're on the right idea. It's sad - cut the budgets and then it can be corrupted, where the public loses.

It undermines their credibility and use, making them a propaganda tool.

Or course it says something that they have to BUY to get their views there.

If their right-wing ideology trying to claim its a credible ideology were a single man, it'd be like buying a prostitute to prove he's attractive to women.

Can't be any worse than the Wall St. funded professors at Harvard, Columbia, Chicago, etc. that helped breed the greed that brought down the house of cards in 2008.

Such universities funded by Big Finance should have to pay a $500,000/graduate tax before they let them loose.

Yes, everyone who disagrees with your expert knowledge of economics must be paid off by Wall Street. The only other option is that your opinions, which admittedly conflict with those of the majority of faculty of all top economics programs in the nation, are better. Or did I miss a third possibility? Nah, surely you can't just be wrong.

The problem being that Koch having control over who teaches FSU's econ courses is just about the last thing on a student's mind when picking which school/courses to choose from. Yet, these very students represent the future of our Nation, a future Koch wants to bend to his will.

Following Goebbles' playbook to the letter by propagandizing the eager yet gullible minds of the young via prof's that are bought and paid for to preach the party line is par for the course for life forms like Koch.

Disgusting, really.
 
Were this a privately run school, it would be disgusting. As a publicly run school, it is unconscionable. The entire administration that agreed to this should be fired.

There is more to this story than any reporter will ever investigate and report on. What is the full truth? Haven't a clue.

Second, there is no proof that this will be a "right-wing shill" course. The logic is not there. In 5 years time, if such occurs, then you can be outraged.

Until then, it is pretty damn hilarious seeing all you lefties getting your panties in a bunch 😀

Is this story strange? Sure it is. But be outraged while holding on to some resemblance of reality.




In a jury trial, the prosecutor selects and approves every one of the jurors, yet juries are not shills for the prosecution.

In 5 years time when it is proven that this was a terrible idea, it will already be too late. That's 5 years of students being subjected to his ideals alone. That's 5 years he has decided who gets hired and what sort of research is produced. You can't exactly just up and fire a professor once they have been at your school for a few years, so then they are stuck with those professors.

You call all of the other professors "left-wing" but here is the thing, they are producing original research. Stuff they personally wanted to look into. Not shit they got forced to look into because the guy that bought out their department says so.
