Damn I hate dell so much. Hopefully we all can figure out how to outperform his crap new toy.

I will seriously throw-up in my own mouth if it is a pentium based system.

BTW, what is up with the 150 10k rpm WD hard drives? Are those dell exclusive too? Lol.

Then they are not true AMD people, now are they?

Let's wait and see the price tag.

On a political note, I would hate to see the cream of the crop for things such as gamings rigs go in the direction of you having to be a rich (and most likely stupid at computers) to afford having the best system. This might be the worst marketing idea to date in terms of how it affects enthusiasts who don't have that kind of cash, since locking of multipliers.

The WD Raptors are not Dell exclusive, a review can be found here.

Personally, I think the whole quad SLi is absurd overkill at this time. The performance increase is NOT worth the price.

Yeah, and by the time games need that much power to play them, those 7800s' will be old.

I don't know guys... if you have a monitor that can run at those resolutions, then 2 cards would most def be chuggin along to run smoothly on even lowered detail.

But yeah, in the future... just like everything else, that dell will be outdated when there are new cards that can run as two which will outperform the 4 7800's. Let's just hope dell doesn't get his dirty puppy-killing hands to make that his own exclusive too. lol.

By the time that system comes out, the next gen of video cards will be out. That, and quad sli's performance doesn't seem to scale well right now......though niether did regular sli originally.

Well it'd be kind of embarassing if they released a 30" 2560 x 1600 native display and didn't even have a system that could power the newer games on. Now they have an option, though it's probably a short list of people who're willing or able to drop 8k+ for a limited edition XPS Renegade on top of 2k for a monitor?!

What's a bit more interesting is that Dell got ahold of unlocked Intel chips and is probably the first Tier-1 OEM to factory overclock... If I was a boutique gamer shop like Voodoo or Alienware I'd be a bit perturbed at Intel.

Like I said in the article comments, what's next? Watercooling and AMD?

Its intel based. Very sad. They overclocked the processor to 4.6 GHZ.

Hopefully, you can get these cards WITHOUT buying the Dell (any word on that?).

Dell is just putting together a system with the best and fastest parts available, no matter the cost. I cant wait to see how much it will cost.

I think nvidia has more plans for these cards than just for this Dell system...

in the original post's link to the article (on another site), it states that current high end XPS systems are $3-4000 and the quad 7800GTX setup XPS system will easily be double the cost.

sadly to say, AMD fans, it is intel based

to Db2012's hoping that alienware comes out with something cheaper, when has alienware ever been cheaper than dell?

thought i don't like dells or intel and have no where near that amount of money, you gotta admit that it's a nice system. nice case too....in the link from the original post, it has a side view of the case with a signature on the case. anyone know who's signature that is?

It may be more, since I priced out a Dell XPS to see how it stacked up price-wise to the work rig in my signature and it came out to be close to 6k. That was just with Dual 7800GTX's, raptors and a fast single-core P4. Prices may have dropped a bit, but I'm guessing with everything this "limited edition" model has, it'll come out to be north of 8k.

Yeah, it's signed by Michael Dell and the Artist who did the paint job...

I must say, Dell's impressed me, and I never thought that'd be possible. True, Athlons would be better, especially dual core, but 4.6Ghz is still a top notch gaming processor probably on the league of any stock single core Athlon. Not to mention that while Intel's processors run hot and draw a lot of power, that negative is easily dwarfed by what quad sli will be doing. Talk about a space heater, that things probably dissappating like 600W of heat. I wonder what made Dell finally start to take the gaming market seriously. Of course, I think anyone of us would go for the cost savings associated with building your own PC, but if the only criteria is power at any cost you can't go wrong with this Dell. Of course, since it won't be available till Spring, that does mean the next gen of video cards will be out, seems silly to make a quad 512 GTX system when they can just use the top of the line nvidia card then.

This system will probably have a production run in the dozens, maybe hundreds if they're lucky. While this system is great for bragging rights, I doubt they'll sell much at such a high price. Then again, Alienware still exists.

Roger doger. I was completely shocked when I saw that Dell was able to build such a system. Who cares if it's a Pentium or an AMD, it's still the best of the best and that's all that matters. Dell is also a great company, and I recommend them to anyone who doesn't really have any computer knowledge. If you have the money to blow and you want the best, then what the hell? This is the best. Props to Dell.

Oh and btw, it's 4.26ghz, not 4.6 ;)

Why all the Dell hate? I like building my own, but I have bought Dell's for my own use in the past, and I have bought a lot of them in the business world. If you compare them with other large scale builders they look pretty good.

Yes, their support has gone downhill, but so has everyone else's.

"The most powerful gaming PC in the world-4"

Another stupid thread where we see people spit back and forth at each other because someone favors nVidia, or they will favor Dell and Intel, or they will hate such a company for a reason and say that everything about that particular company is "crap."

For all of the people who can afford the system, it will give you blistering frames for just about any game.

Anyone who can customize a computer to outperform this rig, this would be the last place you want be reading about anything concerning "my computer is faster than yours."

Lastly, it's not the fastest gaming PC in the world, there will never be, maybe at a particular point in time at some electronics research laboratory, but not forever. Never was and never will.

I think the real lesson from this release is that dell is going to put the same pricing pressure on the high end as they have on the budget/lowend computing world in the next couple of years. This may just be a limited-edition-bragging-rights machine, but who's to say they won't release scaled down versions of this model at more realistic prices? A couple of years ago most would have scoffed at a top end dell with custom build or AMD platform competitive technology. While most of us may be content to build for the satisfaction or the cost savings, there's less and less that dell won't do on the performance end to drive highend technology down to the masses who can't be bothered with researching specs, compatabilty and overclocking knowledge.

We're complaining about Dell since they only use Intel processors, and currently, its AMD's processors that totally kill in gaming.

Well Dell drops their earnings in their last quarter. I can see why they invested on a huge amount of money on the renegade. They just lost their competitiveness in the high-end zone. Dell enjoyed selling cheap PCs to consumers over the past 2 decades, and they prospered from it. Only problem now are these so call high-end gaming rig and people are attracted to it. Problem was their XPS product line failed to compete with other companies in the high-end zone. My guess is that they want to grab some of the marketshares again.
