Tesla had long thought of the limit of the speed of light being the absolute fastest you could go as ridiculous. For light it would be a limit, certainly, but not for everything.

Here we are a century later, just now figuring out what he knew way back then.

Science does not work that way.

When things like this come out, I can't help but laugh at all the idiots who are followers of the MMGW religion.

Yes it is. Someone proposes a hypothesis and then tests are done to see if that hypothesis can be disproven. In this case, Tesla proposed the hypothesis that matter can travel faster than light. Experiments seemed to indicate that this was not the case. Now, experiments are showing that maybe that hypothesis is correct. That's exactly how science is done. If no one ever proposed a hypothesis that seemed a bit outlandish, we wouldn't have pretty much anything science has ever shown ever.

I'm afraid this is still very unlikely. I blame...

That's the best non-sequitur threadjack I've seen in months. "Light speed may not be a Universal speed limit, therefore humans can't influence climate." Seems legit.

He also thought Einstein was an idiot.

A huge potential discovery is made here, something that changes the way we will view the universe and these kinds of discoveries are happening all the time. Now we have had people clamoring that the "science is settled" when it comes to MMGW, yet we don't know jack shit about shit. This is the point I was trying to make, we don't know shit.

No it's not. A hypothesis requires evidence behind it in order to create it. Tesla did not have any evidence supporting his idea that particles can travel faster than light. Einstein had evidence supporting his position that light is the universal speed limit

It's exciting to think that we might have just discovered something we didn't even think was possible. Damn science is cool.

So battlestar galactica will have to upgrade its FTL drive to the FAP(faster than subAtomic Particle) drive

Well played.

Can't wait until this experiment is disproven and we can go back to normal.

I'm not sure if this was sarcasm or not, but I'm kinda surprised to hear something like this from you.

That's not how science works.

Science itself is ever evolving. Remember, we used to think the Earth was the center of our solar system. As recently as the 1600s, nobody had a concept of germs. I could go on and on.

Change is the name of the game. Theories are hatched, nurtered and propped up on a pedistal only to be mercilessly destroyed when new evidence comes to light. That's just how it is.

The general populous believed that shit. Anyone who argued was killed because of a religious establishment... :colbert:

I will be interested in this if they can reproduce it and verify that it is indeed real deal.

Space already travels faster than the speed of light. Theoretically at least according to Einstein iirc.

Neutrinos don't have mass. I'm curious how that will affect current theories.
