Good thing rape doesn't happen in the US.

are you joking, there are LAWS against rape here in the great country of USofA....that's why it's so safe. It's illegal to break the laws, so that's why nobody does it, because they have respect for our justice system.

On 60 min tonight Ms. Logan broke her silence.
She said she was stripped naked and beaten and had sticks and fingers inserted into her rectum and vagina (but no penis) for 25 min before help came. Also on the show they had Egyptian women claiming ~ 95% are victims of sexual assault but don't go to authorities because they may be sexually assaulted and fathers and brothers will beat or kill them. Fucken savages.

Penetration = rape in my book.

But hey, we all know rape was a common occurence during our revolutionary war. And that rape was a huge issue in the civil rights movement. Oh wait no it wasn't. These scum are animals that are still stuck in the stone ages.

God bless that group of Egyptian woman that saved her long enough for the soldiers to come in and complete the rescue.

Far too often people lose all semblance of humanity in a mob.

Yep. The scariest part is this: is that true human nature shining through?

My reading of the 60 Minutes report is that it sounded less like she was being raped and more like they were literally trying to tear her apart with their bare hands. Perhaps it started out with the intention to gang rape her and then when someone yelled that she was an Israeli and a Jew they decided to tear her up.

Bump for apologists to try to explain that this wasn't rape, was just some guys having a good time, or whatever other crazy excuse they have for a country that was supposed to be converting to democracy with dignity.

Rape and rape accusations were huge issues in the civil rights movement. Minorities would be accused of rape and slaughtered for interfering with the supposed purity of the white race. Are you trying to deny these atrocities?

Uh...no one engaged in intercourse with her. Their weren't any penises involved. They were tearing her orifices apart but they were also trying to tear her arms legs off as well. The purpose seemed to be to murder her by ripping her apart as opposed to a mass gang rape. That's just my interpretation of the 60 Minutes report. That doesn't mean that these guys don't deserve to die or that they're any less horrible and disgusting people.

Do you really fucking think that? First of all I'm assuming that you incorrectly believe rape must involve penetration with penises. That is pretty much wrong. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape#Definitions "I like your other arugment though, they were trying to tear her apart and accidentally got all up in her pussy." Uhhh sure dude.

Rape in many legal jurisdictions requires penetration. It really depends on what you're using for your definition of rape.

Yes it does. And penetration does not require a penis most of the time in the US. I think the British require a penis for rape. Maybe you prefer their laws COW?

Many states require rape to involve penetration by the penis. It's one of the criticism on many rape laws - they are often highly gendered. However, many states also have a penetration by a foreign object statute to cover penetration that did not involve a penis.

These are all legal definitions though. That is certainly separate from social definitions.

I guess we'll just have to disagree about the definition then. My definition of rape has always been "forcible sexual intercourse". It's an academic matter. My definition doesn't mean that penetration by an object isn't horrible or that we should feel less sympathy for someone who is a victim of that nor that the perpetrators shouldn't be punished.

So just to be clear, you don't think she was raped (technically)?

One can easily deduct that penetration by an object
might well be far more dangeourous for the victim s health
in respect of internal organs fragility...
