Knowing the game, one of the tips in my link.

OK cool thanks I'll have a look.

Oddly, I am only addicted to gambling when I am in Vegas. 😵

I live in L.A. and have lived in Palm Springs, but have never had any desire to go into any of those local Casinos.

Generally, I win money at Blackjack, and blow it on Craps. 😉

I love vegas, but I should never go back. I lost a lot of money.

I don't gamble. I find it too stressful and I rarely win anything. I have never come out ahead.

I guess some people are able to enjoy gambling even if they lose in the long term because of the occasional short-term gains. Over time it's just a hobby that they spend money on, like any other hobby. For me, though, gambling is like throwing money into the wind and hoping it blows back to you.

I always set a limit and never go past it, and I always have a good time. Get a bit shitfaced on the free drinks and enjoy the atmosphere. I would have blown that money at the bar anyway. 😛

- A few poker nights where I broke even once and lost everything twice (total losses about $50)
- A few scratch games totaling maybe $50 spent and won $2

Never been to a casino.

I think it was Ron White, don't quote me on this, that said you should just take some rolls of quarters and flush them down the toilet. At least occasionally, the toilet will back up and you'll get some money back.

I never drank when I went to gamble and make money. Vegas paid for my Rolex.

I've done fairly well, even with the drinking. 😀 I've won about $1k starting with $100, and couple times made $800 and $600. I think I've lost about $400 in a couple trips, and broke even once.

This was all in Mississippi.

I was a hosted player, known at Mandalay Bay and the Luxor in my days. I will never forget being at a comped concert and seeing Ellen DeGeneres and Anna Heche with worst seats then me.

Or, if you choose free drinks, take one an hour.

You're smart, though, nothing ruins a gamble like being too drunk to know when to fold.

I went back to Vegas a few years ago after about 5-6 years off. I got tore up and even then I knew not to gamble.

I haven't had a chance to go to Vegas yet, but I will someday. Biloxi isn't too bad (compared to Tunica and Philadelphia it's pretty awesome), there were a few big spenders there. I saw an older guy get $20K in chips once. Nothing like the big boys in Vegas, I imagine.

That's because a good gambler, one that wins more than he loses, keeps people at the tables. They see you winning and go all in.

Gotta love Las Vegas for the respect they give to true mavericks.

I had a run going one trip there where I was playing 3 hands at a time and just killing it. I had an entire row of chips from the rack in front of me plus some more. I remember seeing the pit bosses watching me like a hawk, it was great. They swapped dealers on me and took it all back, it was hands down my fault for not walking. I was almost exclusively a black jack player back then.

I would totally go rage at a casino but you have to remember it is just entertainment. I'd rather do some low level blackjack for downtime and make a few big bets on roulette or something then peace out no matter the outcome. I can be numb to the outcome of things like that but at the same time I know if I'm doubled up or something I'm walking out and not going back for awhile. I'm the high impulse control type though.

I like playing poker with friends over a few beers, but we never spend more than about £20 each so it's not a big deal if you lose it all.

No. The most I have spent is $500 over 3 days in Vegas.
Gambling is a huge waste of money.

I went to vegas a few years ago for vacation.

Took $5000 with me..
Lost $3000 the first night.
Ended up breaking even by the time i left.

Since then, i don't really gamble much.

Went up to Blackhawk (colorado casino district) for my Birthday... lost $100... that's all i took... and walked away when done.

Went to a casino once or twice and lost $20. Gambling has never done anything for me, like crack or prostitutes. I just always knew it was a poor use of time.

Moving along. I never gamble. Never win so I never play. Never quite saw the appeal of it either. Especially slots, which so many are crazy about. I've got a co-worker who I suspect is a gambling addict though. He's always talking about betting on sports, which is legal here BTW. Puts big sums down too. No way he makes enough to cover it. Cash has also been going missing around the store as of late too. Small sums but it's adding up. Don't want to throw around wild accusations without proof, but he has motive. :hmm:
