Is that what Christians claim about the OT?

Who claimed principles or morals were uniquely Christian? ah heck off with the red herring arguments. It's getting tiresome.

Well it's kind of hard to say this country was founded by Christian men on Christian principals if those principals aren't unique and the founding fathers specifically prohibited such a declaration. But that seems to be the reasoning you are going with.

Is your assumption that Muslims would only have seen the Arabic version?

Because the 1797 treaty was violated, essentially became null and void, and was replaced by a new treaty. You do know what the word "superseded" means?

Already asked and answered.

We went out of our way to ensure there was no State religion and to ensure that the Church and State remained separate. The Church != religion, specifically in this case the Christian religion. In fact, if you read just about any writings of this country's founders you'll see just how heavily the Christian faith influenced their decisions. This nation was founded on Christian principles and morals because the men who founded it were Christians. Claiming otherwise is foolish

But, whatever. Keep ignoring that man behind the curtain.

Personal attack number two! Your argument is getting better by the post/s

When you have to distort my words to try to make a point it proves you're an asshole and a moron.

Keep it up. Let everyone see that you have to act like a shady shithead to make a point. I don't think many in here would be surprised though. It seems to be your MO.

I didn't distort your words at all, I took your reasoning to a logical conclusion. A conclusion no sane person would agree with (congrats, you aren't insane). I then used your new found reality to disprove your claim (to go along with all the other evidence others and I have supplied to you).

Personal attack #3, you seem pretty mad bro, perhaps you need a break?

I prefer to judge people by their words and their actions. When their words match their actions they can generally be trusted. When they don't, well...

Well, Washington's actions of being a rather large slave owner, and by many accounts a mean fuck at that. Then the fact that we had to fight the bloodiest war of our history to end a practice that he thought was morally, and using your logic "christian", good and his "right" doesn't exactly put your position in a good light.

Hell you'd think that the slaves closest to him would be the ones best taken care of but nope, they were the ones that tried their hardest to escape. How very Christ like of him..... Again, we had to fight a massive war to rid ourselves of his good and decent "Christian morals". Or do his words outweigh his good Christian actions on this particular point (edited to add), bro?

Grammar nazis, was the comma supposed to go in front of the (edited to add) or did I add the "bro" correctly?

Meh. In Washington's day slavery was accepted. I don't agree with that nor am I here to apologize for that because it's really neither here nor there regarding the subject of this discussion. Slavery has little to nothing to do with the current discussion so please don't attempt to redirect things. If you want to know some of Washington's thoughts regarding Christianity and the Constitution you can start here.

When did P&N appoint you as THE arbiter?

lol. Yet another reason why you're an asshole in here.

No one did, of course, and nor do I claim to be. An observation is just that, an observation.

I also observe your personal attack #4. Some might call that excessive.

Can I assume by your blatant attempt to move this conversation off topic, along with your personal insults, that you are just trolling now?

You are aware that he's running for President of the United States, yes?
Of course I do, and trust me he is 100% right in what he said.

With due respect, you guys absolutely have no idea for bashing that guy over his statement. On the other hand, both the politicians and the worthless propagandized-media just found something to talk about.

To force Carson to abandon his campaign over that statement is a total madness and nonsense.

Look, plain and simple; someone might be completely atheist with an Islamic title in his religion blank. However, when the time come, you'd find him citing dozens of Islamic literature to justify his actions and gain Islamic support from the fools.
That basically has been going on since 680 AD.

Hmmmm....what did some of our "founding fathers" have to say on the subject?

Our civil rights have no dependence on our religious opinions, any more than our opinions in physics or geometry. - Thomas Jefferson, A Bill for Establishing Religious Freedom (1779)

Christian establishments tend to great ignorance and corruption, all of which facilitate the execution of mischievous projects. - James Madison, letter to William Bradford, Jr. (1774)

The way to see by faith is to shut the eye of reason. - Benjamin Franklin, Poor Richard's Almanack (1758)

If I could conceive that the general government might ever be so administered as to render the liberty of conscience insecure, I beg you will be persuaded, that no one would be more zealous than myself to establish effectual barriers against the horrors of spiritual tyranny, and every species of religious persecution. - George Washington, letter to the United Baptist Chamber of Virginia (1789)

Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear. - Thomas Jefferson, letter to Peter Carr (1787)

During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What has been its fruits? More or less, in all places, pride and indolence in the clergy; ignorance and servility in the laity; in both, superstition, bigotryand persecution. - James Madison, General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia (1785)

Yep, those good Christian principles and morals on display.

And it certainly is relevant, you're the one that brought up the "Christian principles and morals" of the founding fathers. When this country was founded it was acceptable to own another person, treat women like second class citizens, wipe out an entire indigenous culture, discriminate against anyone that wasn't a land owning white male, etc... These are the things that were considered moral by good Christians of that time.

They'd have to be more Atheist than anything, much like every other President in recent history.
Wut? What President in the history of the US has been an atheist? It'll be quite some time before this country's ready to elect an atheist, or even agnostic, President.

Oh, wait, you probably mean someone's an "atheist" if they don't hold what you consider to be "appropriate" religious views?

My guess is that we've had a number of presidents who were atheist/agnostic, depending on how you define it. Sure you have to be outwardly Christian, but I wouldn't be surprised if in private several of them didn't give a shit about religion or believe it at all.

And?

Where did you get the impression I approved of their morals? I am merely making an observation that the founding fathers, who were raised as Christians and therefore obtained Christian principles and morals, implemented those principles and morals during the founding of this country. Whether or not their behaviors were good or bad (in historical hindsight, no less) has absolutely no bearing on that fact.

This thread has turned into the P&N equivalent of the Rodney King video played on a loop.

Dear god (pun intended), you really should learn to recognize when you're wrong.

I would expand that to anybody who believes Noah's Ark myth actually occurred probably lacks the brain cells and judgement to hold down the position of president of the United States.

Not to mention, among other things, that Earth was "created" ~6000 years ago... (Although at least the latter suggests that "God" - whoever he, she, they, or it may be - must have a terrific sense of humor.:D )
