I don't think so... what I'm saying is they've got nice cars that they are wasting away on an everyday basis and I just shake my head passing them wondering what the point is. If they wanted a nice cruiser, surely they could've gotten a Cadillac - not that that's slow either.

About the SUV comment... and I'm really tired of pointing this out to short-sighted people - (btw Jules I'm still waiting for an answer) they are made to be practical (except for gas - sometimes) at every situation. Driving in snow with ease for one... home depot trips for another. You don't buy a house long-term to fit the minimum amount of people, right? SUVs have the benefit of practicality at any time. They don't have to be off-roaders and for many crossovers they are not. But still, they have the cargo capacity compared to a passenger vehicle whether it be fold down rear seats, 3rd row, or roof racks. NOBODY complains when a minivan is not carrying 3 kids, or a pickup has no cargo on the bed, why are SUVs getting knocked?

What're the 335s or 6s cruising along with Prius's doing if they're not being driven aggressively? They are meant to be fun drivers and have no other practical purpose. This is what bugs me when I see such sweet vehicles wasted and that's all I'm saying.

I see I have my own personal stalker here...truth is, I never saw your question. Believe it or not, I don't just spend all my time here looking for posts you've made and responding to them...unlike you when I post. 😛

That Rodeo you had was a 4x2 then? What about your STi?

The Rodeo was 4x2...god I hated that fucking POS too. I got a good deal on it though (or at least I thought I did) and it served its purpose for the time I had it. I'll never own a POS like that again so long as I live though. I sent it off to auction with almost zero oil pressure and a fucked up transmission.

BTW-I actually took it off-road out in the desert on numerous occasions unlike 95% of 4x4 owners.

All STis are AWD. No choice there and I never took it off-road or in the snow. I didn't buy it for its off-road/foul weather capability though. I bought it because it was fun to drive.

My next car will be a Lotus Elise.

Oh, and you need to learn to lighten up a bit. Sometimes I'll go a bit farther just to provoke but I've never been anything but complimentary about your X5. I've driven them and I like them very much. I just happen to think Americans have been sold on this notion that you need a big 4x4 SUV to make it in this country and I think it's a giant load of horse shit...which it is. It always amazes me when I hear people say they NEED a 4x4 to drive when there is 1" of snow on the ground...or even 10". It just isn't so.

Fuck, half the vehicles I'd see in the ditch when the weather got bad were 4x4s and trucks. 4WD doesn't make you a better driver, in fact, it probably makes you over confident which tends to be a real problem. If you live where it snows a lot you would do better to just get some decent snow tires and just take it easy when the weather gets bad.

Isn't a G35 coupe 6s 0-60?

Don't get me wrong it feels fast, but after a ride in the STi it doesn't feel quite as speedy as before for the next couple of hours.

btw I do own one.

From a stop it's definitely faster but from highway speeds the difference is neglible at best.

I stopped reading after the first page so I apologize if this has been addressed.

What the fuck is the point of this thread?

I don't give two shits how "fast" your car could go when you're driving in the god damn fast lane at 65-70 mph. My 07 mazda6 should probably be on this list, but as far as I'm concerned, it has a scramjet hypersonic engine compared to the dick heads with fast cars but drive like they have no insurance.

If you bought the fast flashy car because you're going through a mid-life crisis and want to impress 18-year old girls, I'm down with that, I really am. Just move over to the slow lane with the buicks and minivans.

When I rip past you in a 175hp sedan while flipping you off, take it as a sign to stop driving in the fast lane for the love of god.

like so many others have said, fast is only worth if if you take your car to a track on a regular basis. and, you can have fun in a "slow" car on a track just as well.

my civic si isn't "fast" by any numerical standard, but it is a blast to drive on public roads and on the track.

Jules, we've had arguments in the past so I know what you've owned... I saw an easy opportunity to catch you in a blatant lie about never owning a 4wd (which AWD is for the purposes of YOUR argument) and I did. K thx. Until you stop being asshattery with your statements on a constant basis, we'll meet again. Obviously because you like it or simply like being ignorant. BTW, after numerous threads here against the NEED argument I can't believe you still use that one.

You should hear some of the owners. They actually believe these things are fast. All GM vehicles are slow and boring.

Vette? You must be stupid right?

You're conveniently ignoring the fact that I bought the only AWD vehicle I've ever owned IN MY ENTIRE LIFE while living in Southern California...a vehicle that I've never ever EVER driven in the snow, despite the fact that I grew up and learned to drive in the snowy north east.

Anyway, it bugs me that people drive their 300hp+ nice cars at 60mph just cruising in the middle or right lane of a highway. Spirited driving is my favorite term. Don't care about 0-60 jackrabbits or quarter miles in the real world.

Why does it bug you? You realize they are bigger targets for tickets and usually have a rougher suspension/lowered so going fast equals REALLY rough ride or you fuck up your car if the freeway is all chopped up.

I didn't realize so many people took their cars to the track.

You'd be shocked at how many actually DO go to the track to be SAFE and LEGAL:

1/4 mile??? I didn't know anybody did that any more.

Some of us still do.

Yup
(left lane)

I'm an auto-x guy myself. I only went to the 1/4 once.

Hold on, because some of the young crowd at AT brings it to the track that means the 30-somethings in their BMW 335s / 6s, Infinitis, Lexus', all cruising along at 60 on the highway all bring it to the track to make use of their sweet rides too? After 1st session at Streets of Willow

Hey, I resemble that comment. I'm an old fart (30-something) and I've taken my wife's M5 to Willow Springs racetrack, not just the strip.

Luckily this is America and people can buy whatever they want and do with it as they please. Otherwise, we would all be driving Ford Festivas or Geo Metros.

Funny I support that... people should buy whatever they like. I don't start threads like this... actually I defend people with SUVs because I think of them as all-in-ones capable of (well see my previous post) as opposed to vehicles with 1 purpose. I think it's just a /sigh moment when some mid-30s chick is driving a 6-series in the right lane of a highway just going about her business. Really? Gimme that thing. I'll open her up.

Usually when people are mad about what other people drive, it is due to jealousy that that don't own one themselves. I know I think that way when I see a Ferrari puttering around town. 😉

Bah, I could've bought an M3 for my money and kept my other SUV for hauling but I chose what I actually wanted. What are those people doing in those things if not running them? I think you confused mad with frustration. And while I defend my point, it's being made out to be a bigger deal than it is.

Technically, AWD =! 4WD and as I stated earlier, I was referring to when I lived and drove in the snow year in and year out. Subaru WRX-STi is actually horrible in the snow with the stock rubber...or so I've heard. And that IS the only AWD vehicle I've ever owned.

That was a fun thread!:laugh:

It was really just an observation is all. You should visit some other countries (Canada doesn't count), it really opens up your eyes how different people live and enjoy life with less. I swear, I saw maybe 3 SUVs in Spain and no pickup trucks. There were a lot of cool cars and bikes though.

Would I want everyone driving Geo Metros? God no, those are horrible fucking cars. It would be nice if everyone wasn't driving Yukons and Suburbans though. Imagine being able to actually see past the bumper of the vehicle in front of you...

BTW-I was in Portugal when I posted that thread. :wine:

What the fuck?

Are you fucking stupid? Regular Corvettes aren't Enzos, but there's no way in hell they're not fast.

Camaros and GTOs are muscle cars, not sports cars, they're powerful, providing low end torque, but don't expect miracles around the track.

Further illustrating my point. I don't mind Geo Metros at all, but if we all had the same taste in cars, this would be a VERY boring country. I mean common, are you gonna bash Jay Leno for all his cars? I'm sure with the vast number he has, they could rarely be driven if they are at all.

 Slow econoboxes with annoyingly loud fart pipes are my big pet peeve. It's hilarious to watch them 'accelerate' from a light making all this noise but struggling to keep up with the 70 year old guy in his Buick.

To econobox fart pipe guy: You are not Vin Diesel and your car is loud, not fast. Put your seat up and quit driving like a friggin' tool.

*Yes I realize there are a few 'real' modded econoboxes but for every fast one theres 999 that can't beat a stock Mustang GT.

The words you typed form incorrect statements. GM cars are all trash. Want proof? Look it up on Google.

I owned one and while it had nice torque for pulling into traffic it wasn't 'fast' by any measure. Didn't handle that well either. It was a nice balance of acceleration, handling, and smooth ride even at high speed. It was very good at breaking down though. :| (see sig)
