Hold on, because some of the young crowd at AT brings it to the track that means the 30-somethings in their BMW 335s / 6s, Infinitis, Lexus', all cruising along at 60 on the highway all bring it to the track to make use of their sweet rides too? I don't think so... what I'm saying is they've got nice cars that they are wasting away on an everyday basis and I just shake my head passing them wondering what the point is. If they wanted a nice cruiser, surely they could've gotten a Cadillac - not that that's slow either.
About the SUV comment... and I'm really tired of pointing this out to short-sighted people - (btw Jules I'm still waiting for an answer) they are made to be practical (except for gas - sometimes) at every situation. Driving in snow with ease for one... home depot trips for another. You don't buy a house long-term to fit the minimum amount of people, right? SUVs have the benefit of practicality at any time. They don't have to be off-roaders and for many crossovers they are not. But still, they have the cargo capacity compared to a passenger vehicle whether it be fold down rear seats, 3rd row, or roof racks. NOBODY complains when a minivan is not carrying 3 kids, or a pickup has no cargo on the bed, why are SUVs getting knocked?
What're the 335s or 6s cruising along with Prius's doing if they're not being driven aggressively? They are meant to be fun drivers and have no other practical purpose. This is what bugs me when I see such sweet vehicles wasted and that's all I'm saying.
I see I have my own personal stalker here...truth is, I never saw your question. Believe it or not, I don't just spend all my time here looking for posts you've made and responding to them...unlike you when I post. 😛
That Rodeo you had was a 4x2 then? What about your STi?
The Rodeo was 4x2...god I hated that fucking POS too. I got a good deal on it though (or at least I thought I did) and it served its purpose for the time I had it. I'll never own a POS like that again so long as I live though. I sent it off to auction with almost zero oil pressure and a fucked up transmission.
BTW-I actually took it off-road out in the desert on numerous occasions unlike 95% of 4x4 owners.
All STis are AWD. No choice there and I never took it off-road or in the snow. I didn't buy it for its off-road/foul weather capability though. I bought it because it was fun to drive.
My next car will be a Lotus Elise.
Oh, and you need to learn to lighten up a bit. Sometimes I'll go a bit farther just to provoke but I've never been anything but complimentary about your X5. I've driven them and I like them very much. I just happen to think Americans have been sold on this notion that you need a big 4x4 SUV to make it in this country and I think it's a giant load of horse shit...which it is. It always amazes me when I hear people say they NEED a 4x4 to drive when there is 1" of snow on the ground...or even 10". It just isn't so.
Fuck, half the vehicles I'd see in the ditch when the weather got bad were 4x4s and trucks. 4WD doesn't make you a better driver, in fact, it probably makes you over confident which tends to be a real problem. If you live where it snows a lot you would do better to just get some decent snow tires and just take it easy when the weather gets bad.
