Cars 2 thread...

Will Pixar be one of the only movie studios to EVER make a sequel better or as good as the first version?

please put spoilers in spoiler tags.

Also, Cars wasn't that great so I don't see why Cars 2 would be that big of a deal.

Because you don't have a kid.

I have a 6 year old. Every birthday party we've been to this year have been CARS themed. Every toy kids asked for has been CARS themed.

Kids love that movie.

Which means this will be a blockbuster.

btw.. found this on the net the other day... disturbing and interesting at the same time

Pixar got their work cut out for Cars 2.. I mean Cars is the weakest movie from Pixar to date, so I would not be surprised if Cars 2 is better than Cars which was a "meh" overall.

For a while, Cars was my least favorite of the Pixar movies, but I like it more and more every time I see it. The story isn't bad, and the subtle humor of the characters is great.

Cars is their lowest rated movie, but once they announced they were making a sequel, it wasn't hard to figure out why -- toy sales. Will it be better? Hopefully. Will it suck? Not a chance. Should be a good watch either way.

Came across this yesterday.

It took 12,500 CPU cores to render Cars 2.

Personally, I'm very excited for Monsters, Inc. 2 in 2013.

And yes, Cars didn't do great in theaters, but every single boy in America LOVES cars in general. Cars has been out for a really long time and they were still selling and making all sorts of merchandise. Now with Cars 2 they can continue it and sell even more b/c the new characters.
My 3 year old had to have a Cars birthday this year and was so excited b/c he got 2 "Maters".

I'm concerned that this will be the first cash-in Pixar movie. I get the impression this one won't be enjoyable for adults that have to watch it with their children. I liked the first one, but I haven't seen anything promoting this movie that wasn't seriously BAD (the car insurance commercial comes to mind).

I don't blame Pixar. The first Cars movie made WAY more $$$ in merchandising than any of their other films.

I can agree with that to a degree, but, I don't think Pixar would ever give less than 110% on anything they touch. They've got the best reputation in the film industry. Part of me feels like it could be an attempt to cash-in on the success of the first one.

Cars 1 is the brainchild of John Lasseter (Pixar's chief creative officer), so it doesn't surprise me that it'd have a sequel.

Although I liked the first Cars it is a blatant ripoff of the movie, Doc Hollywood.

Also, of all the Pixar movies I find A Bug's Life to be the weakest. Didn't care too much for The Incredibles either.

Doc Hollywood is a ripoff of Saul/Paul.
Classic story in any case.
