Car shoppers: what you wanted vs what you settled for.

What I wanted: I had no idea. I didn't know if I wanted a project car, rice, SUV for New England winter weather, or something else entirely. I test drove everything from a new Yaris to a used Grand Cherokee; GTi to Taurus.
All I knew is that I was looking for something that fit me at a really good price.

What I ended up with: Fully loaded '04 Grand Prix GTP Comp G.

158MPH car with 2 years and half the miles left on the bumper-to-bumper warranty, with another 3 year powertrain warranty added, for $20k.
The color (maroon) has grown on me. It shows off the chrome 17's and quad tips without showing dirt.

Wanted: New Prius

Got: A 2004 Accord Ex with decent miles for less than half the price (paid cash). I did the math: Even if I get around 30 mpg with the Accord vs. 50 mpg with the Prius I'd surely never see all of the $12,000+ it would have cost to get the Prius. And that's not factoring in depreciation or liability vs. full insurance.
Plus: the Accord is fully loaded, and the Prius would have been bare-bones.

really wanted: 2012 Mustang GT. Affordable, but impractical. And I am weak on saying no to mods. This would not have helped.
wanted: WRX hatch. Same reason.

realistic: v6 Fusion, v6 Escape.

purchased: v6 Malibu.

Reason: This Malibu was sitting there at the right price. Always liked their looks.

wanted: ford flex awd limited
bought: 98 civic beater with over 200k miles on it.

sometimes my wants arent in my budget.

Wanted: low mileage, enthusiast-owned 996 Carrera or e46 M3

Ended up with (as opposed to "settled" with): a diamond in the rough - bone stock, never modified, 1 owner 1994 Toyota Supra Turbo w/ 37k miles on the clock.

sorry if this doesn't precisely conform to the OP's topic, but i wasn't looking for a Supra at first b/c i just assumed i would never find one in great shape for the right price...so i was initially looking at other cars with decent power, great handling, and beauty...

I like your taste in cars. 🙂

Get a life dude, a differencein opinion is not threadcrapping.

umadbro™ because I don't bother with your trollbait but just continue to call you out?

Smirk remarks like "I thought you didn't have to save" are hardly a difference in opinion.

I hate to break it to you, but like all my M3 threads having the 'locals' all up in arms about me trolling; I am very serious.

I do agree with their mentality that most people are probably just making stuff up on the internet. I don't have time for that, I ask questions to be answered and post up things I am doing/buying.

I am sure many here probably think I didn't have to buy $1400 in tires tonight due to a blow out thanks to I-95 and idiots that let debris spill out of their piece of crap trucks.

You really look like a loser so focused on me. I donate about $50 a week to charities and spend about $100 per week feeding 'homeless' cats. My fs/t threads here have been immaculate with most people commenting to me they got a better deal then they anticipated.

Meanwhile you offer nothing to the world.

Yet I am the troll.

The mod will not doing anything to him. When you have 57000 post count, you will get the vip treatment as well. Do you know how much $$$ he brings in for this site??

Are you seriously thinking no one gets the agenda you have against me? There have been many with high posts that have been banned.

Seriously up until recently I was mostly on vacation and being warned that I was approaching permanent ban.

It's just a handful of losers that are ruining it for everyone. A lot of people do find my posts entertaining and/or helpful.

Trust me as far as the 'mods' go here, I am not on anyone's Top 10.

However, I understand they have a hard job so I have agreed to play by their rules. This is a private forum, and not protected by any free-speech rights.

People get pissed because I end up right too often despite 'public' opinion.
