being a MKIV Supra owner myself, that particular generation SC w/ a 2JZ-GTE swap is something i've dreamed about adding to the stable for a long time now...the lines are so simple yet sleek.
i'm not down there in Oz with you...i'm here in the USA. firstly, the 1JZ-GTE never came in the Lexus SC300 - it came in the Toyota Soarer, which never came stateside. likewise, the JZA70 (3rd gen) Supra, which again came with the 1JZ-GTE in places like Japan and Oz, was sold in the US domestic market with the 7M-GTE instead. in fact, the 1JZ-GTE was never a USDM motor...That's the most useless swap ever, they came with an 1JZ-GTE option. Just get one of them.
Why go through all the trouble for an extra 0.5L?

...so if you spotted an SC300 w/ a 1JZ-GTE under the hood stateside, then it is most definitely a swap. otherwise one would have had to import a Soarer w/ a 1JZ-GTE from Japan, Oz, or elsewhere. so since importing an entire Soarer w/ a 1JZ-GTE to the US is more cost prohibitive than swapping a 2JZ-GTE long block (which is the far superior motor AND transmission anyways) into an SC300, i'll go with the latter option...
now lets not derail the thread and make this thread about Toyota inline-6's...back on topic please.
Wanted: Economic hatchback with less than 60,000 miles for $6,000 or less.
Settled for: 2004 Kia Rio sedan with 40,000 miles on it for $4,000.
What I wanted did not exist. If it was a hatchback, it was in high demand and the used market prices reflected that.
What I settled for ended being a great first car and has been the best purchase I have ever made (the car has actually gone up in value 2.5 years later).
