Car Rant

Today, I noticed a scratch on my passenger side door. It looks like someone in the parking lot opened their door too far and left a scratch.

What makes me mad is not the scratch, but the fact that someone has the nerve to damage someone's property and not take responsibility for it.

It's happened to me before, and more than a scratch. They peeled the the clear coat off one of my doors. It really ticks me off.

I smashed the entire front of a 2004 SLK with my cable truck a few years ago. I got out to leave a message, but my co-worker asked me wtf was I doing, and warned me against it. I did report it to my foreman at the time of the hit, and his response was to gtfo there...

I feel bad for that guy to this day. 🙁

Long story short:
Guy in a Mercedes convertible gave me less than 6 inches of space between my closed driver side door and his door. I climbed through my passenger side, moved my car, and proceeded to dump several bottles of dip-spit all over his car.

Probably not. If I can have insurance to pay for a scratch, sure... >_> I don't know much about auto insurance though, considering I don't drive..

No, that's actually a short story. Seriously, how much more to this could there be?

You don't have much luck with girls, do you?

Luck has nothing to do with me getting girls. Nothing at all...

So...do they ever regain consciousness?

No, because if someone has mental problems ofver a scratch, they:
1) spent more money on their car than they should have (ie. they can't afford the car)
2) have to much spare times on their hands
3) don't realize that this is inevitable and decide to bitch and moan like they are in the right at the ATOT forums.

Of course. What fun would it be if they don't scream?

I love the fact that I drive a beater '92 Cherokee and don't have to worry about stuff like this. As long as no one crawls under it and disables the 4wd, then I am good.

While I agree wholeheartedly with you on respecting property, it is just a car. A vehicle is supposed to transport you and cargo to and from destinations. It is not an extension of any appendage, or a reflection of your image whatsoever.

And I have doored someone before and not left a note, but it had more to do with the fact they parked too close to me and less with my personal courage.

Its probably from a shopping cart.

I have seen some WICKED shopping cart hits in parking lots. Get a good gust of wind behind one of those guys with some room for it to gain momentum....shooot!

You keep several bottles of dip-spit in your car?

Generally, no. My cousin does the stuff, but I can't really stand it. We were driving around to all the gun shops in a hundred mile radius the week or so before hand and I just didn't find any time to clean it out of my car. It wasn't giving off an odor or anything so I couldn't have cared less. I saw an opportunity and took it.

"Can have? Umm...anyone "can have" there TB. You just have to pay for it yourself. Seeing as you are 18 and jobhunting, you should be looking into this car insurance stuff soon....

Depends. If it's a little nick or something that's barely visible I won't bother, and I wouldn't expect anyone to do it for me. If it's a lengthy obvious scratch then yes.

Related: I once got hate mail under my wiper from a mom who said I parked too close and had made it extremely difficult to load her 2 kids into her SUV. What she apparently failed to notice was that I was even closer to the SUV on the other side, and that I had to get out on the side bordering her spot anyway. I did so with a little squeezing but no contact with her SUV. I honestly don't know what she was on about.

I feel your pain OP. Some morons dinked a huge dink <about the quarter> in my rear driver door. I had to pay about $150 to the paintless repair guy to fix it.

you know what they prob had no idea it even happened

The shitty part is that if you leave a note, they supposedly can take you to court for ANY damage done, so people can sue the hell out of you for a lot more than what you actually did.

Depends. If it was a small scratch, barely noticeable, where the owner would likely never find it, and even if they did they really wouldn't care much because it's nothing? I wouldn't bother leaving info. If it were anything serious, an obvious ding or something, yeah I would

That is why you always park the fuck away from everybody if you drive a nice car, or park next to a nicer car.

It is a funny phenomenon, at every retail lot, you can see the nice cars have their own groupies in the back of the parking lot.

Yes, I would. Although I have gotten quite a few dents/scrapes on my truck in parking lots and no one has ever left their info. Basically I don't mind though as the truck had a couple of dents in it when I bought it.

I'm guilty of this in my dad's volvo. My Sabb is scratched to hell anyways so I don't care about it
