What's the word on the A900's price? If it's cheaper than the 5DmkII and D700 then it could be in a really good position once it hits the market.

why do you single out non-integrated-grip pro cameras? why not include a pop up on the integrated grip bodies like the 1D?

i for one do not use the pop up flash on my 40D, mainly because the lenses i use are too large with the hood on for the pop up to clear. i find a speedlite much better (bounce), albeit heavy.

- 37.5 million pixel camera
- 30x45mm CCD sensor
- 56% bigger than a typical 35mm sensor
- new dual shutter system with in-body focal-plane shutter for fast lenses
- twice the speed of comparable medium-format backs
- one-point autofocus, which can be overridden at any time
- raw, JPEG and DNG
- Weather-proof
- ?20,000 body-only
- Release in summer 2009

so, leica is going head to head with hasselblad and they can fight over who will trip the other into the grave first. meanwhile canon's 1DIV will probably have nearly the same resolution, faster continuous, better AF, and likely better noise control. if it had fp-sync for the flash it'd beat the leica on everything. the only issue is whether small format lenses can keep up with the resolution of the sensors. though, if a lens is good enough for a 50D, it'd be good enough for 38 MP on 135.

remember, only in the center. just about any lens is perfect in the center at f/11.

my question about this new video fad is how the hell do they keep the chip cool? i mean 2 years ago doing long exposure photography was an awsome way to fuck up the chip due to heat and blown pixels?

what has changed?

corner performance is always going to be 'worse' for larger formats because of smaller dof for equivalent fov and because the 'in focus' area is a sphere while film is a plane.
