These two guys (one for Canon and one for Nikon) who were known for their accuracy predicted pretty much the same thing.
Given that, I believe what they've predicted is more likly to come out as the fact.
Anyway, below are the 'rumors' from those guys.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Aug, 26th : Canon to announce 5D (MK2?)
Price will be slightly under $3000.

EFs 18-200mm f/3.5 - 5.6 IS
G10
S6 IS and some other P&S cameras.

Sep, 18th : I'm not sure about this one but from what I've gathered, it can be an entry level FF (slighly under $2000) or the successor of 40D.

Aug, 27th: Nikon to announce new press body. Possibly D3X or D900.
D90 might be announced as well.
Nikon might also announce a body that's 'somewhat different'
It can be RF or Sigma DP-1 like camera.

Before(in) Photokina, Canon will also announce 1D Mk4.

Fuji may announce S7Pro, the rumor has it that it's a FF.
(I've heard that they're working on FF but I'm not certain if it's done)"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Updated: The Canon guy updated his post:

Aug, 26th.

EOS 50D

15.1MP APS-C
DIGIC IV
6.3fps

3.0" 92,000 pixels.
$1,400 (body only)

efs 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
$750

So, it's not 5D that'll be announced but 50D.

Update #4

http://www.canon.com/moon/en/index.html
http://cweb.canon.jp/camera/eosd/index.html

I'm not sure about the name of the camera. It could be either 3D, 6D, 7D or something very different.
What I am sure is that this is the successor of 5D.

Too manay Rumors about specs of this camera has been floating around since last year, and it's hard to tell which one is decent enough to be taken seriously.
However, one of the guy that I could trust said the following:

20+ MP CMOS
9 cross AF + 6 hidden f/2.8
4 FPS
New design
New power system
3inch high quality LCD
New Live View system - Something new is included but it's very suprising.

On the other hand, below is another rumor that's been floating around.

21.1 MP 1.0x
DIGIC IV
ISO 100-6400 L:50 & H:12800
5 FPS
3.2? High Resolution Screen (LCD)
19 point AF
HDMI Out
Liveview
HD Movie Mode
Viewfinder: 100% Coverage
Full weather sealing
EF Lenses only

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Someone posted specs. of 5D mk2 and it was pulled down a few minutes after.
It is believed to be the real deal and had to be taken down due to not following the embargo.

"Name: 5D MK2

Full HD Quality movie function.
Certain level of AF control possbile when using movie mode.

Digic 4

4fps

Most of 50d's funtions are included with a minor improvement.

SRAW

Out of all the movie frames, 1 can be converted into photograph

Canon waited to see what Nikon/Sony FF offers. Upon seeing Sony A900 is less than they thought it'd be,
certain features planned for 5D mk2 was locked(deleted)"

Again, this can be an another rumor that's been popluating the web for more than a year.
I don't even know where this leakage came from. I have no clue whether this is real or not though many people seem to think this is it.
Whether it's true or not, I hope it's just an rumor.

UPDATE #5-1

http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18710

"As Nikon and Canon release their 720P and 1080P, respectively, DSLRs with video capture..."

It's told by Jannard, the founder of RED, who is also a Canon dslr user.
Now, this is interesting because Canon has not made any dslrs with movie mode. Not only that, they didn't show any interest in it.

Only the 'supposdly leaked 5D mk2 spec' that I posted above talks about it for the first time. Also, "Full HD" in the leaked spec. matches with Jannard's saying "1080P"
This coming from Jannard, I think the 'supposdly leaked 5D mk2 spec' is quite true.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

with the way RG put it through the mill, yes they do, and it needs to work properly right out of the box.

Judging by the number of black lenses in the press boxes at the Olympics, yes they most certainly do.

As for the announcements:

D90 - expected

D3x - expected

EF-S 18-200mm IS - better nate than lever

S6 IS - yawn

G10 - if it's like the upgrade from the G7 --> G9, another potential yawn

1D4 - expected, since the AF issues with the 1D3 were not completely fixed despite submirror and firmware updates. 1.3x crop or FF? 12MP or 14MP? 10FPS or faster?

S7Pro - unexpected; I didn't think Fuji was still investing in DSLR development, since the sales volumes of the S5Pro were so low. A FF SuperCCD sensor would be VERY interesting to examine.

DP1 Clones - expected; maybe Canon will surprise us with the G10 and stuff an APS-C sensor into it?

Good for you. It'd be a sad day when I sell my 5D under $1000.
That's why I'm keeping my 40D right now and just upgrade later.:)

1DII to 1DIIn was 18 months. 1DIIn to 1DIII was 18 months. so a 1DIIIn wouldn't be unprecedented.

Ummmmm

Isn't it one of those scam sites that lets you buy a camera very cheap but forces you to buy battery charger for $300, USB cable for $100, CDs for $100, straps for $30...etc.?

I dunno. But - the $1K number is not out of line once the MKII is released. BTW - that has been coming now for over 6 months. When it happens, I plan to get it, and sell my current 5D.

yes, yes it is. you'll never get that camera for that price from them. oh, sure, your receipt may put that price next to the line item, but that's before the $200 of accessories they sell you for $2000.

In that case, we're still talking 1.6 crop factor and not FF? Huge difference!

The rumor persists:

Atkins

Looks like we keep eyes and ears open for the EOS 7D, not 5D MKII.

Yeah, from what I gathered, the announcement date of 5D successor and 50D is changed.
Given that, I wonder what kind of FF camera will be announced on September. Would it 3D or 7D? I hope Canon announces 3D(a.k.A 5D Mk2) first.

I don't believe the bold, the others may be fair game.

Canon really got caught with their pants down if they're replacing the 40D already.
