And how much is a A70 going for?
There's a deal for $250 w/128mb card floating around right now IIRC.

Thats the deal I got in on from Office Max (thanks to RossMan). I think its already expired. When I looked it up the link to the combo was gone, so I looked at the sale paper from the BM store online, got the stock numbers for the CF card / camera / $1 paper clips and entered them in manually on the website. Then I used the $50 off $300 coupon and placed the order. After that I was able to get the CS rep to look at the add and adjust the price to $275 after taxes. :wine:🙂

The Canon A70 with free 128MB CF for $250 after $50 off coupon usually happens every 4-5 weeks.

Next time it rolls around it will be in my sig.

If this link of A70 pics won't sell you on the A70 then you just don't want to be sold. 😀

Link to Richard Armstrongs A70 pics

wow, is that taken with the a70 just taken out of the box or with a special macro lens and tripod?
I do believe some of the pics have a lens attachment, yes.

He states so in some of them.

ah, okay thanks. I have the camera for over 6months already and still trying to figure out how to maximize it's uses.

That Richard Armstrong fellow also recommends working with pictures in Photoshop or other pic editing software to bring out specific qualities.

I see this as being very similar to photographic techniques used in printing pics. I used to be a big SLR 35mm fan and had my own darkroom so the concept makes sense to me. I've been dying to get back into high-quality photography and am very anxious to use my new A70. 🙂

For reference again, here is my A70 vs. 35 mm resolution page:

Digital vs. Film

My recent Bali and Bangkok photos are about 2/3 from the A70 but there is no easy way to sort out which are 35mm, which is good? :frown:😀😕

Bali

OK, if anyone is interested, I just figured out how to tell the digital from film pictures in my Bali galleries. Just mouseover the thumbs. If the serial number is under 1000 (i.e. A0xxx) it's digital. If it's over 1000 (i.e. A1xxx) it's film. If you care...

Here is a picture of one of the flower pot my mom bought for Xmas.

and another picture taken outside our family front yard looking toward our's neighbor home (I like the big tree he got in his backyard 🙂 )
It's snowing!

What's the main difference between a80 and a70?

the main one is the tilt screen on the a80...but there are several minor changes that make the a70 better for some things....it's not a total upgrade.

If you go into the program modes for the macro and select the closest estimate to the real distance, that works better. Also faster shutter speed makes up for movement.

More I drink the more I bump up the shutter speed.

Sunny weather, no zoom, full manual controls, fastest shutter speed for f/2.8. I like to use manual focus for this, setting it to the shortest distance and accomodating accordingly.

One tip that I found very useful is the Unsharp Mask filter in Adobe Photoshop. It GREATLY increases image quality, eliminating the A70 inherited softness.

Are there any cheaper alternatives to Adobe PS like $100 or so?
