maybe people should start off with the original 5D.
I agree. I was going to go with a use original 5D, but the draw back is that it doesn't do video, hence the 5D mkii was the only option up till recently.

I can't wait till the 14mm Rokinon arrive so that I can try it out (apparently it is a bit soft wide open, and is just about as sharp as the Canon 14mm L at f4 or smaller). And, I hope to get the Rokinon 35mm f1.4 because it is just as sharp or sharper than Canon 35mm L II.

i just want good focus. perfect focus. Of course, corner to corner sharpness will help too 🙂 but that's more lens than the body.. I guess AF is body...

Yes it is nice to have completely corrected lenses and tack sharp corners, however soft corners aren't going to be a deal breaker unless landscape is what you are after. IMHO, most photographers do not notice or suffer if they have lenses with soft corners, and perhaps soft corner can be a positive affect for video.

Specs aren't everything but Nikon and Sony's upcoming full frame cameras appear to be winning the spec battle.

Sony are always good with specs and tickboxes, usually last on image quality.

Nikons cameras are pretty good, now, they let canon play the FF game for far far too long and almost killed themselves. Putting the d2's up against he 1d/1ds/5d stuff was a joke.

And now? Ok sony/nikon sensors are often better but as an overall package the 1dx beats the d4, the 5d3 beats the d800 so who is to say what will happen with the 6d.
