This is very sad and my thoughts go out to the poor Canadian families who have lost their sons/husbands/fathers. Deaths due to friendly fire (FF), while very common in history, is a very hard thing to accept. It makes one extremely angry, and for good reason. It seems like such a waste.
Just remember that FF deaths in the past have been much, much higher. Thankfully, the US and most other modern armies have come a long way in target indentification, especially friendlies. But it appears painfully obvious that we need to go a bit further. :|
Again, my thoughts go out to the families, and to the Canadian citizens who feel pain and anger over this. I can't apologize for my entire country or military, but I can for one US citizen. I'm very sorry this happened.
