Well, its a risk every soldier over there is taking. IIRC a few peacekeepers have been killed as well as numerous americans...

I don't think its unavoiadable. What is avoidable is making jokes about this. I guess it is easy to make wisecracks when you are hiding behind your computer.
 
I would like to express my sadness for the deaths of the brave Canadian warriors in this accident. They died performing a noble duty for a just cause. May god bless them and keep them and show mercy upon their souls.🙁

That A-Hole shinerburke could probably use some BBS vacation time for that incredibly insensitive remark. You have dishonored men that you could never hope to be the equal of.
My condolences (with a profound sense of embarrassment) to our Canadian Brothers and Sisters.

All kidding aside, I haven't read the news article or heard about the story until now, but it is unfortunate, and really do feel awful for those (of all nationalities) who have been injured or killed accidentally. The military works with lethal equipment which is designed to kill people, and accidents can and will happen, be it through human error or through mechanical failure. Hopefully we will have learned from this something which will help prevent this type of accident from occurring in the future.

Sadly, there have been worse incidents. I recall one mishap a few years ago during a training exercise somewhere out west when bombs were dropped on a hilltop grandstand full of people. IIRC the victims weren't even military personnel, just civilian observers. 🙁
 
did we accidentaly drop a nuke in florida into someone's backyard but it jsut turned out to be a dud? i may be wrong..
 
I heard about that missing nuke yeah. I don't think it was dropped on purpose, but it was an accident or something...
 
yeah, good thing it didnt go off. that woulda have been a whole lot worse than 9-11. not that 9-11 wasn't bad enough 🙁
 
This is very sad and my thoughts go out to the poor Canadian families who have lost their sons/husbands/fathers. Deaths due to friendly fire (FF), while very common in history, is a very hard thing to accept. It makes one extremely angry, and for good reason. It seems like such a waste. 🙁

Just remember that FF deaths in the past have been much, much higher. Thankfully, the US and most other modern armies have come a long way in target indentification, especially friendlies. But it appears painfully obvious that we need to go a bit further. :|

Again, my thoughts go out to the families, and to the Canadian citizens who feel pain and anger over this. I can't apologize for my entire country or military, but I can for one US citizen. I'm very sorry this happened. 🙁

If my feeble memory serves me right, it was off the coast of Floirda in 1958 after two planes collided in mid air. The one carrying the nukes dropped them in the ocean off the coast. Apparently one was never found.

As I thought from the beginning,winning a war at invisible enemies are very hard or impossible.Accident like this will happend.
Bombs are not smart,they kill everything and sadly they killed their own m8 this time.

A good school friend of mine is part of the 900 dispatched to afganistan, we went through Jr and High school together. Havn't talked to him in a few years, but i hope he isnt one of them. We shall find out in the next few days who the dead and injured are.

And thanks to the rest of you Americans who understand that loosing your fellow countrymen is not a laughing matter.
 
My condolences as well to the Canadians over this accident. It saddens me sometimes that many people on both sides of the border ignore the long and very close relations that Canada and the US share. Being married to a Canadian I have family there and they here and that situation is not at all unique.
 
Man, this is quite a fvckup (as are some on this board).

How the hell could they drop a bomb when they're not even involved in the exercise?

It's not as though my words really mean anything to anybody, but I offer my condolences to those grieving over these deaths that should not have happened.
