Yes. Flop the steak in some seasoned flour and sear it on both sides in a couple tablespoons of olive oil on medium high heat. When it browns, add some mushrooms and sliced onions to the oil, cook for another minute or so, then put everything in the oven on, oh...350-400 for another 20-30 minutes (depending on how done you want it). It works best if you use a cast iron skillet as you can take the pan from the burners right to the stove.

4. profit.

Way to read off the recipe werk posted. :p

The best way to cook a steak in the kitchen (as opposed to on the grill) is in a frying pan.

Take a regular skillet (not a non-stick) and heat it to very hot.

Put salt and pepper on the steak(s) and lay them in the pan (No oil or butter!!!)

For a 1 1/2" thick steak, 3 minutes per side will give you a perfect medium rare steak.

Pull out the steaks and put them in the over to stay warm (does not have to be on)

Reduce to medium heat and drop some chopped onion/shallots and garlic and butter into the pan and stir it into the scrapings from the steak. Add some lemon juice and parsley to the pan and serve on top of the steaks immediately.

Sheeit.. You can drive a car with ya feet, *if ya want to*, That don't make it a good fvckin IDEA!

Don't knock it till you've tried it. Considering that the steak is backing in the marinade (depending on how you fix it) through the entire cooking process, it has some wonderful flavor is always juicy.

Oh don't get me wrong, I was quoting chris rock.

My ma makes a roast out of the biggest steak I've ever seen. Let's it cook all sunday morning...

Jucy, tender to the point of not being able to pick it up...

The grill is my favorite though. :)

Well, it really depends on how thick your steak is. Obviously if you got the $3.99 special ribeyes from the store that are only 1/2" thick, you're going to cook it a lot less. A thick nice bone in steak (T-bone, porterhouse, etc) will take a lot longer to get to medium. I would say 20 minutes for a 1 1/2" bone in steak is about right for medium.

well, you probably wouldn't want to do that with a tender piece of meat to begin with.

nice you know how to make a pan sauce. one of the simplest and best ways IMHO to add flavors/moisture.

Not hard to do at all. Follow my example in this thread but cook for 2-3 minutes per side in the oven phase. You all should really try it before thinking it's not good. It comes out perfect and I have only tried it once. It can only get better as I do it more.

Can you cook steak in an oven?

I tried it once. To make a long story short, the fire department showed up, and there were cops blocking off both ends of my street as a direct result. (I should also say that I can't cook.)

However, despite all of the drama, it turned out to be an EXCELLENT steak.
