It says my items will arrive Dec 21st if I order today. Can I trust that? I plan on leaving the next day.

Should be okay. Well, when I order stuff (I live in Sydney, Australia), they are very conservative in their estimated arrival dates and I normally always get my products well in advance.

Dang. 10 minutes after ordering and my order status is "shipping soon" and I cannot change or cancel the order.

I figure I'd have a few hours to make up my mind. Oh well. We'll see what happens.

Amazon knows their shippers, I can't think of them ever being wrong about items shipped to me.

(As long as it was in stock, and shipped/sold by Amazon not someone else.)

Recently I've had 2 packages delayed by several days by the shipping company, not really Amazons fault though. At least they will refund you the cost if you upgraded shipping from the free 2-day(using Amazon Prime).

Amazon has ALWAYS been spot on for me.
This holiday alone I bet you I'm at 12 shipments alone. Everyone has been on time, or earlier than they estimate (though I ponied up for Prime.... how I lived without it I don't know. it's the ultimate in consumer/store agreement: I won't screw you on shipping, if you agree to buy more from me".)

Usually yes. But the last time I ordered a birthday present for someone, it was shipped 4 weeks later (the present was clearly too late to give as a birthday present). Even though the item was listed as in stock (and it continued to be listed as in stock for the next 4 weeks).

So, good luck.

UPS now has a message on their 1800 number before they give you access to the menu saying that shipping date is not guaranteed and that shipments might be delayed beyond the 7PM stopping time.

I've never had Amazon shipping miss it's date. UPS has been delivering packages as late as 8pm the past week or two.

You are asking this the week before Christmas? FWIW I have ordered a few things from both Amazon & Newegg recently & they have all arrived as they predicted.

I always receive things a couple of days earlier than their estimate.

If it's sold by Amazon, then with almost absolute certainty and they have a christmas guarantee.

If not sold by Amazon, then maybe.

Are you using Prime? If so, the estimate should be VERY accurate. I've been getting packages for the past several days...all on or before the estimated delivery date.

(although some are due today...and so far, no delivery...but tracking says they're "out for delivery")

Prime deliveries are usually (if not always) on time, most of my orders are Prime and they arrive before their scheduled date if not on it. If its from a seller that just partners with Amazon to get their products out there, then you can't be too sure, since their shipping is done independently from Amazon and they just handle the financial transaction and listing.

I got a confirmation email that my package has shipped today. And the money was pulled from my bank today. But, I got the package yesterday.

Nope. This is about me attempting to go Christmas shopping today, getting fed up, saying F it, going back home, and ordering stuff on Amazon instead.

Had you done that from the beginning like me, you could have completely avoided all the christmas bullshit and been much happier for it.

I wouldn't trust the shipping times. Amazon is generally considered slow in my book vs. the quickness of Newegg.
