ok, so i weigh about 180lbs, athletic build, not fat. i want to drop 10lbs in the next 10 days. i do free weights, situps, and pushups, but no cardio. can't seem to lose any weight. average daily caloric intake is about 1800.

i'm thinking a 1,000 cal diet and more cardio exercises. here's the meal plan i started today:

breakfast: bowl of cheerios / 2% skim milk
lunch: can of low sodium V8 juice. 11oz EAS AdvantEDGE 17g protein drink
dinner: vegetables, grilled chicken.

that's eat. maybe some walnuts along the way. the above is just under 1,000 cals. is this ok?

No. And why?

EDIT: I take that back... you might be able to, but you shouldn't. 1000 calories isn't healthy.

Yes you can but that is not good for you. The lowest I would go is 1500 and do cardio 30 minutes morning and 30 minutes late afternoon and don't eat after 6pm

i guess i should add a 350cal 42g protein Myoplex shake to my post workout routine. that puts me at about 1200/cal a day.

Yes you can, it will be 99% water and as soon as you eat/drink anything it will come right back. Oh and make sure you cut sodium for at least a week before you try this as well as for the week you're cutting water weight. Cutting down to 1000 calories a day wont help much and could possibly hurt, best case with the added cardio you'll go catabolic and lose muscle mass. Go keto or IF if you're serious about cutting some fat quickly. Don't starve yourself/your body.

Eat whole foods, protein shakes should only be used if you need to supplement your current protein intake not in place of real foods which your diet is lacking. cut the simple carbs and dairy and eat eggs and some (high fiber)fruit for breakfast. Eat a real lunch and get some variety in your dinner which is the only decent meal in your plan

Simple, no. Obese can but not already thin people. In short you don't need to lose weight. Build more muscle.

He could easily drop more than 10 lbs of water and it would make him look more thin, but he wouldn't be able to keep the weight off. So the answer is yes... and no.

I'm not advocating the OP cut water weight but it is possible and not much less healthy than the OP's suggested diet. Neither is going to be conducive to weight loss in the long term.

I was avoiding that. Unless she is making weight for something like wrestling? But they are usually pretty well coached on dropping water weight for matches.

i don't really get much time to workout, but i have 10 days with no distractions so i'm going to try to make the most of it.

as for creatine, i havent had that as a supplement in about 12 years. i will look into it, since i rarely eat meat, esp beef

That's extremely bad for your body, why do you need to lose 10lbs in 10 days? Wouldn't it be better to slim your figure instead of losing weight?

I've done about 10 in two weeks on about 20g carbs a day, high protein, high fat ~1800 calories.

Yes you can with PSMF in combination with exercise but it also depends on how much body fat you have and if you're willing to eat the same thing over and over again for the entire two weeks. The less bodyfat you have, the more muscle mass you'll lose. If you have a good 10 extra pounds of body fat then there shouldn't be a problem doing it. I'm doing it right now and seem to be dropping half a pound to a pound a day. I weight myself both in the morning and at night to get a good idea if I am really dropping or not.

As for how I'm doing it, I'm not following the PSMF plan exactly how it's laid out because I need carbs to function for my daily routine. I'm also not starving myself because I'm doing it by eating Egg Whites all day long. Egg White are the best for doing this because the calorie to protein ratio is extremely good. You can eat 40 egg whites and be only at 800 calories a day. Assuming that you already know that you're suppose to be eating 1 gram of protein per pound of ideal body weight then you should be trying to strive for around 35 Egg Whites per day. I seriously can't eat that many eggs in a single day because it makes my head spin so I'm eating around 15 per day and I'm still fully satisfied since I do combine my meals with 60 grams of carbs total per day. I get my carbs from bread since it's easy to count at 1 slice being only 50 calories. I generally eat my bread with 1 tablespoon of butter spread to keep my fat content up. I end up eating somewhere in the range of 1k calories to 1200 calories a day depending on how much butter spread i use on my bread.

As for exercise you need to do both cardio and resistance training to preserve muscle mass because the goal is to be ripped and not a skinny fat guy. I'm doing 48 mins of cardio and 10 mins of resistance exercises with things like the kettlebell and pushups. If you want to do this with free weights then you might want to get a spotter incase you run out of energy.

You also need two supplements when doing PMSF to ensure a healthy heart beat. First is potassium which can be bought over the counter but you can easily get the potassium from spinach since 1 cup of spinach is only 25 calories. The second thing you need is omega 3 fish oils. If I am missing a supplement then I'm all open ears.

As for why PSMF might be unhealthy, I do not know. I'm not starving myself and feel extremely full trying to hit 35 eggs in a day. It's just an extremely boring diet.

Edit.
Link to a guy from body building forums who did PSMF and his two week results.

I lost 9 pounds in 4 days more or less doing what you're thinking. It was just so I was no where close to the weight limit for entering basic (165 was the limit I weighed 163 4 days prior). I was also running in the Florida heat. If you don't have that should probably consider a sauna.

10 lbs of fat = 41,000 kcals. Over 10 days that is 4100 kcals per day. That would require jogging something like 30 miles per day. Even if you are a marathon runner that's gotta be like 6 hours per day of jogging while still eating normal intake. Doable? Possibly, if you are very fit and quite hardcore about it. I imagine soldiers during wartime or endurance training can pull that kind of weight loss off.

Yeah, I don't get what you are trying to accomplish. You can't cut 10 lbs a fat, that's for sure. You can cut 10 lbs of water weight, but if you are not trying to "make weight" for some type of competition (mma, wrestling, running, bodybuilding, or even a photo shoot, etc) what the hell are you doing it for? It's a wicked shortcut.

IMO the biggest part of losing weight in combat is the heat, combined with carrying your body plus another 30-60% of that weight around in equipment. Throw in some stress and irregular sleep and most people shed off all their extra weight after a few months.

Of course, if you don't carry any equipment and sit in an air conditioned office on a megafob...
