Just reeks of desperation on the part of CoD. Physx/TXAA will only be on the PC version, totally irrelevant to the huge majority of people who play this game, console players. The game is wildly successful on console, but not on the PC platform. Battlefield dwarfs this game on PC.

They are finally reaping the rewards of lacklustre innovation and churning out the same turd every year with a new coat of paint. Dice has pulled so far ahead of them in every conceivable facet that they've essentially lost any chance of having Call of Reskin be relevant on the PC again.

So blurry garbage AA and physx is the best they can muster.. and Fish AI.

Another big title score for NVidia and hardware PhysX! ^_^

This one caught me completely by surprise. I thought the only PhysX games coming out at the tail end of this year were Bureau XCOM DeClassified and Batman Arkham Origins.

I guess Activision must be feeling the heat from Battlefield 4 and the graphical brilliance of the Frostbite 3 engine that they felt they had to do something more to compete in the intensifying tech war with DICE.

NVidia engineers will help them to implement advanced HDR lighting, sub-D tessellation, displacement mapping and probably some other effects. The game will also have dedicated servers for all those that like multiplayer.

I haven't played a Call of Duty game since Modern Warfare, so I may give this one a go.. In fact, I just upgraded my PhysX card to a EVGA GTX 650 Ti SSC, so the more PhysX games the merrier. 😀

Also, it will be interesting to hear those PhysX naysayers spin this one about how PhysX will soon be dead :whiste:

COD bores me so this won't be touching my hybrid system.

Willing to make a good bet that COD on console outsells BF any day of the week and perhaps that is all they care about, the few pc gamers is icing on the cake hence why they might not wanna change to much just cause the cash just comes right on in.

Pc gamers absolutely hate this series of games but on console, look out the reskin is somehow still outselling BF 2 to 1 despite its 5th reskin if i am counting right.

It probably will.

but sales numbers do not equal quality.

Most of the people I know that still play COD are teenagers, Clueless noobs, 12 year olds that get their parents to buy it for them and drunk frat boys.

And none of them would know a good game if it slapped them in the face.

pretty much the same as the sheepish apple users they only see marketing.

I would honestly rather play the remake of black mesa than anything after COD4.

But as the saying go ignorance is bliss so to each his own.

So like 10% (This is a high estimate, would have to check numbers again) of CoD gamers play on PC. Of that 10%, roughly half have nVidia cards. Which means 5% of everybody can use these features, and of that 5%, probably half of them have the hardware to actually get decent FPS with it enabled.

How is this good for consumers again?

I think pigs are pretty cool animals. I will pass on the new COD, though I am looking forward to the BF4 improvements. One of the biggest problems with BF3 is the lack of organized team play and communication. Hopefully commander mode and team/squad void will fix that.

I spend around half my FPS recently between BF3 and BO2. I have converted some friends off consoles and they dragged me into BO2 PC. Quake 3 was my fav FPS all-time so natural I'd still like id tech 3. BO2 fits like your favorite pair ole blue jeans and still looks the same as in IHV Quake 3 beta leaked in March 1999 😱 My main gripe with BO2 was no servers and lack of anyone that plays game. Usually play HC Kill Confirmed and sometimes less than 100 playing online whole damn world on PC. Sad.

Glad they bringing all of Elite features to PC. Damn happy there going to servers for PC. Better pings, no damn lag compensation and hopefully bring in a few more PC players. Pure crap they adding in PhysX that will be turned off by anyone playing competitively online and can be run by maybe 2% of total CoD Ghost players. I usually only play CoD online but thought of getting 2nd class citizen in single player campaign damn near makes it a non-purchase for me. Between Diablo 3, Titan getting super delayed and FTP, WoW just going to casual hell and now this physx nonsense, Activision Blizzard need to get there shit straight or bring back the Frenchies.

I agree totally I recently started playing BF3 again and just remembered all these issues.

Just left a Metro round not to long ago,was on RU on the ADK non explosive and RU lost b and a so quick like not even 10 mins into the round....i left ranting and swearing in the chat cause i saw some stupid ass crap going on with some of the biggest idiots i have ever seen in a fps game.:|Who the hell puts a spawn beacon in A before it is even taken and what recon spends 10 mins guarding the base at a where USA is very unlikely to even be?:awe:

People need to stop mistaking the posts in this thread as anti nvidia and just realize that people are calling out cod for what it is. Garbage.

I think the COD franchise is pretty good and having more enhancements for gamers to choose from are welcomed. Pleased that the developer offers a PC Version and decided to add more to the PC Platform!

It's also good to see more content for PhysX as well. Interested to see what type of dynamic effects they can do here!

Off topic:

BTW, I like the Battlefield series or franchise, too!

Putting lipstick on a pig. Just look at the latest Splinter Cell game. You can throw all the bells and whistles you want but you can't hide an outdated game engine, primitive character animations and make up for lack of world details. HDR lighting doesn't mean anything in 2013.

Actually, I've heard several people on this forum say that Splinter Cell Blacklist is the best looking Unreal Engine game they've ever played..

It only takes me 10 seconds to conclude that COD Ghosts will look like garbage based on the way the foilage + dog look and how the dog moves in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2uN1gwxM8o

You do know that's the Xbox 360 version right, so it's pointless to use that as a reference for what the PC version will look like..

COD Ghosts looks far inferior to BF4 graphically and BF4 itself isn't exactly going to WOW us like Far Cry 1 or Crysis 1 did either. Next gen gaming is still ways off and games like Splinter Cell and COD: Ghosts are still made with old generation consoles in mind. Their graphics show it and you can't hide it with PhysX or otherwise.

I don't think COD Ghosts will match BF4, but at least they are trying rather than just giving up..

As far as TXAA goes, it has so far failed to impress in Secret World, Crysis 3 and Splinter Cell Blacklist. I do not see how TXAA is a selling point at all until NV makes serious strides to prevent texture blurring.

I don't like TXAA myself either, so I agree with you here..

Not that I am a fan of the Call of Duty franchise, but for those that have predicted physx would fade away, looks like they are wrong. Physx seems to be picking up steam.

In the past year there as been Metro Last Light, X-Com Bureau, Hawken, Borderlands 2, Planetside, Warframe, and Rise of the Triad (I may have missed one or two games) and now the upcoming very soon there is the new Batman game, Witcher 3, Call of Duty, and probably some of Ubisoft's games.

Of course, quality is subjective (out of all the current releases, only Metro Last Light and Rise of the Triad are the only ones I want or have played), but the fact can't be ignored that physx is actually starting to GAIN traction and is NOT fading away like people here have tried to reiterated again and again.

Yep, and that was really the main point of my post, to show that PhysX wasn't fading away as many people on this forum have hoped.

I haven't heard of any Ubisoft titles using hardware accelerated PhysX, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was an announcement seeing as Ubisoft and NVidia have formed a technical alliance and will be implementing PC exclusive technologies in their games.

Watch Dogs will be one of those games as well.

So while AMD dominated the first half of this year with their Gamer Evolved program scoring some big titles, looks like NVidia is flexing some muscle with their TWIMTBP program in the latter half.

Ah, w/e. So tired of the GPU chip makers paying devs to develop around their stuff.

I'm going to be happy with my dual 7950s running Battlefield 4. I am not buying an Nvidia card just because this game is going to be using PhysX

I still enjoy the occasional COD skirmish, but nearly as much as I did back in the COD4 days. I now buy every other COD instead of every COD. Ghosts will probably be one I buy.

I had a 5870 before my 680s and didn't let the lack of Physx bother me, but I'm not gonna lie, it's nice to have. I've been playing Borderlands 2 and the added effects are pretty cool. Though I'd still like to see some kind of a open standard be widely adopted or at least have nVidia not break Physx support when there's an AMD GPU in the mix.

so ass ugly blurfest TXAA and a setting that will cut the framerate in half while doing little more that what should be able to be done efficiently on a cpu by now.

lmao I was in a game yesterday where someone did that I wonder if it was the same guy?

Only FPS I'm remotely interested in is BF4. Wake me up when CoD gets a new engine. I never really liked the feel of the series I guess. the guns are like plastic, and everything is so greyish looking.

Will see how their new engine handles next gen consoles and the PC but must be a daunting task to find the right balance for their potential core customers for last or current gen, new gen and the PC platforms.

Ugh no, if they cared about PC they would build their engine ground up to take advantage of the latest hardware, then include video setting options to scale down.

At its best settings, COD looks awful. That's no way to please people who folk out massive $ for their PC rigs. People expect great graphics for FPS as well as gameplay, its not 2003 anymore. Its this and in combination with their lame PC support from previous titles that have really hurt their PC market.

But does it matter? Not really, console nubs will be all over it like usual. A sale is a sale afterall, why work harder to push out an awesome game for the PC market when you can be lazy and release trash that sells well on console anyway, right??

Thats why NV must have given IW quite a bit of incentives for them to even bother, they have a history of laziness when it comes to PC.

There's plenty of PC games that don't take advantage of the latest hardware. In fact, MOST don't.

Thats ridiculous. Why do people think that NVidia gives developers incentives to implement these features?

Especially when as several people have stated, COD is WAY behind BF in the tech arena. I mean, BF4 will be the first honest to God 64 bit game for PCs as far as I know. If DICE develops BF4 for 64 bit primarily, then BF4 will be something to be reckoned with, as 64 bit offers things you just can't get with 32 bit..

Much bigger maps, levels, more destruction, more detail.....more everything.. How the hell is COD going to compete with that?

It's much more likely that IW approached NVidia than the other way around..

What 64 bit CAN do and what DICE will do with it are two completely different things. I certainly hope we see the fruits of 64bit addressing with BF4, but I'm not holding my breath.

Ugh... Call of Duty: Beating A Dead Horse is not a big win for anyone. Its actually rather stunning how far a once great franchise has fallen.

Hold on, isn't CoD literally built on a creaky old engine? For it to look better it needs to be ripped up and rebuilt, then it would start to push PCs like CryEngine. Actually, aren't all these franchises built on creaky old 2007 hardware - 8800's etc? This is why you don't have many games pushing PCs, you can't just add and rejig features to an old ass foundation.

All that aside, it'd be useful to have a single player campaign that's longer than your lunch hour.

imho,

Why do you have to insult console gamers and actually looking forward to the story telling and writing for the title. Glad to see PC choice for a title of this magnitude!

On pleasing? There is no way one can please gamers that easily offer garbage, turd and trash so easily in my mind -- especially when they haven't the common courtesy of trying or evaluating the new title yet! Would worry about their core customers and place more focus there, imho!

Black Ops 2 was good and fun -- nothing that wowed me or an absolute awesome game but certainly wasn't garbage, trash and a turd either.
