Nobody really needs to play COD games anymore. The best gameplay innovations came with the first Modern Warfare (COD4) and those innovations have been basically adopted throughout the industry as standard FPS features at this point.

Doesn't their engine still have a lot of the old ID's tech 2or 3 code? Or did they ever finally build one from scratch.

I like how in each level, at least in the Modern Warfare's, they put you in completely different scenerio's. Even the little things like where you're that astronaut in space for a moment when that missle launches or getting dragged out of the limo for your execution or whatever it was. Changes it up, reminds me a bit of one of the old Bond games. One moment you're a sniper and the next your riding a snow mobile down a mountain, I'd really like to see a lot more of that.

Black ops 2 is most likely the last COD i ever touch, its been fantastic and fun and it beats the first BO with a ugly stick which was a game i can't even bother with anymore. Will wait for another COD which can somehow magically be a whole new game and use a new updated engine which won't be for a few more years?

You can't please everyone because everyone has different tastes. I think besides some things that will likely be fixed up after some patches Ghosts has been fantastic fun for me, both the sp and mp. I didn't really like MW2, and just hated MW3. Black Ops was certainly my favorite of the entire run, and Black Ops 2 was fun but fell well short of the first one IMO mostly due to Activision/Treyarc ignoring pc community input.

I'm also at a loss as to why the general opinion is negative regarding the graphics. I can only imagine it's either due to improper settings or they are forming their opinions based on screenshots of the game which for some reason do not look like what is actually being rendered. They seem to be softened/blurred and the color palate seems subdued compared to in game. I guess this may be due to some post processing going on that isn't being captured in screenshots?

Well i was able to play tonight without lag or stuttering.

Not sure what fix it. But i did re install the drivers, and also installed radeon pro. Did some settings but not sure if those worked.

Still had to disable xfire.

I had to remove depth of field and that dramatically improved large map performances as the draw distances crippled the FPS.

I am actually enjoying the game with the performance issues a lot better than what they were upon release. The hit detection seems to be better than BOII, and the knifing appears to have improved. Like, the kill cam does not show a guy lunging 10 feet to stab at air, yet counted as a kill.

The only thing I really don't like about it is that the maps are just on the outskirts of being overly large for 6 vs 6 and there just seems to be so many random ways of being shot in the arse. For instance, I was spawning behind people immediately after they killed me that gave me an unfair revenge kill. There also appears to be a lot of "closet space" in this game which is a little unnecessary for a 6 vs 6.

As for lag, comes and goes, but it's a lot better than BOII. Not sure why people put BOII on a pedestal as I thought their dedicated servers were trash, and the blatant overt lag compensation was ridiculous and inconsistent. It is still present in Ghosts, but a lot more bearable and admirable than BOII when I was caught bull rushing into people in the kill cam that I didn't even know were there.

And I also agree, Black Ops 1 was the last really solid MW game, but unfortunate that no one got the DLC for it or it was twice as hard filling up a server with everyone having different map packs. It's the unfortunate benefit of the MatchMaking system.

Well, this is unstable as hell on my machine. I can run it at max smoothly, but it crashes randomly. In about 2 hours, I think I've crashed about 10 times already. Some shortly after loading the level up, some a half hour in, and ONCE it crashed an hour later.

I thought it was due to the image quality because it lasted the longest on "low" -- nope. Set it to "low", crashed a minute into the first level.

Updated video card drivers to latest certified, no other game I've run on this machine has ever had this problem. Not even COD: MW3 and MW4. Never buying another CoD game.

I'm actually bored with the game now. It's just so stale. The customizations just don't seem to add anything to the game. It's like when you have 10 pretty colors then mix them all at once and all you get it an ugly brown color in the end. That's the best way to describe what the Modern Warfare formula has become.

Check overclock, and that means overclock set at factory too. I have an MSI 570 that I have to downclock in some games because the default settings aren't stable. I had to google what the "vanilla" 570 is and set it to that.

I never overclock. All my stuff is plain vanilla stock.

For some reason, it actually ran properly for a bit over an hour when I set the image quality to "Normal". Managed to finish the single player game, but it crashed once more at the final cut scene...

Steam timer says 5 hours, which is the same as COD: MW 4. Hope a driver update or patch makes this more stable, so I can at least put in a few more hours to average down the cost from $12/hour.

Space and underwater levels are nice additions. Tank level is too fast/smooth. I really enjoyed MW4 more because the levels seemed more interesting and I was invested in the story more.

Disappointed that they didn't use the space weapon on some of the Federation's cities at the end -- Federation had no trouble with that.

That's the same thing I've heard before. There are cards out there that are shipped overclocked, so just because you didn't do it yourself doesn't mean it's running vanilla speeds. If you know you have a non - OCed card then that's fine, I'm just trying to make sure because people in the past have ignored this problem because they didn't realize their card shipped with different clocks.

In that case, yes, that's a possibility. I don't make an effort to buy pre-overclocked things, but it's done so often now, I may have one of them -- don't remember which specific model I have.

Meh, I finished the game already. If the next patch or drivers don't fix it, I'll give up on it. Not worth the effort for one game.

I just got an Asus GTX 780 OC (also have a i7 3500k & 8gb of ram) and thought I'd be able to max out the graphics on Ghosts at 1080p. Guess I was wrong. :( Nvidia GeForce experience has some of my settings at medium, and only 1x FSAA. Is this right? I don't even get high quality fur. :(
