One is a "look back" at a hate crime from a famous hate crime almost two decades ago. Why was it famous? Because it was particularly rare and depraved. Not something that happens dozens of times a day in every city.

Then there's one that happened in the UK in 2014.

Honestly, I don't care these days...I've matured past my family's racism. As long as they don't touch other people when it isn't wanted/as long as if they express interest in someone else, they accept "no" - who cares? Hold them to the same standard as everyone else (that is to say, I don't approve of what they're doing, but I can see past that to say that they should be allowed to do it.)

I was forced to deal with this person at the time, as they stuck him/her whatever on a safety commitee I was involved in.

I'm getting sick of this crap all ready to be honest, it's getting weird when talk shows want to discuss how many twerpy gender/physical make up/psychological make ups their are.

This is part of the same problem. We have raised a bunch of people who think that they need to be treated extra special, so a lot of them seek to be treated that way. No matter how disruptive it may seem.

From everything I have read Caitlyn has struggled for her entire life with gender identity issues. I congratulate her on being honest about her struggles & wish her every success in building a new life. I cannot imagine the amount of personal pain that led to this decision.

I also find it interesting .. A Vanity Fair cover that results in Caitylin being judged and mocked just like a lot of other women have been.

I worked with a trans person who created a lot of drama, be it suicide related, or simply trying to take offense at everything. We were debating treason charges for Snowden back in the day...and I said something to the tune of "I don't think Snowden should be charged for _____ reasons, but I think that other guy who was recently convicted got what he deserved. I can't remember his name....oh, Bradley Manning."
"You mean Chelsea?"
"Huh? The guy's name is Bradley Manning...he was convicted not long ago."
"HER NAME IS CHELSEA NOW, SHE CHANGED GENDERS."

Before that moment I didn't follow enough to know that had happened...but this person acted so incredibly offended. The entire group went silent. You could hear a pin drop. Our coffee break abruptly ended and we went back to our cube farm.

Unfortunately this family is the very definition of media whores. So much of what they do is for publicity, to push out their self-written headlines, to get people talking about them. And to make gobs of money every step of the way.

At the very minimum, you could say the gender change might not have been for attention and money, but he for damn sure is milking this change for attention and money. A case certainly can be made his decision to go through with the change was because of the opportunity for the accompanying attention & money at this current time.

He had a camera crew surrounding him throughout his entire "transformation" and they're putting out as a television show on E!. Do you think he's not racking in a gigantic pay check from this? Personally, if other people want to watch this show, that's fine by me, it's their right to. And if E! wants to pay Bruce for the show, that also is fine by me, that's how the entertainment industry works. I just get to point out what's happening.
