Michael Moore did back in 2016. No one else took Trump seriously. You had to have not been paying any attention to not know this wasn't coming yesterday. Dear Nazi had been fomenting this for months.
TBH, I know people here were saying this might or would come and I took a wait and see attitude. Now look, the "coup" didn't succeed, you must admit. And I can't think that Trump thought that his admirers would take over the government after marching down Pennsylvania Avenue from the rally. I also can't believe he actually thought that Biden's victory wouldn't be confirmed yesterday.

As for 2016, I was quite aware of Michael Moore's take on things. I had watched his documentary from before the election and I watched election coverage the evening of the election. I saw Michael Moore in one of the network's studios, it was about 8PM PST and I knew from the look on Moore's face that the situation was dire. In a word, he looked GLUM. Yes, I took my cue from his expression. I knew that Trump was going to be POTUS and that the consequences were awful. I figured that Trump would make something like 3 major errors during his term. I could only hope that 2020 would see his unseating. The final error that sealed his doom was his monumental mishandling of his biggest challenge: The Pandemic. The odd thing is that practically anyone would have handled the pandemic better than he did. But his foolish insistence on having the first and last word on everything and not knowing WTF he was doing sunk his ship.

I want to see him irretrievably disgraced. I really don't want to have to worry about him running in 2024.

Funny watching the Republican party as a whole trying desperately, to get us to forget they were part of this devastation of our American democracy. Rats, all of them desperately scrambling at the moment for cover.

Pelosi should not wait. She should be filing articles right now

to hell with waiting for Pence on the 25th. Dont' hold your breath.

What is this congress may be prepared to move forward bullshit? He's gotta go right now. Get him the fuck out.
After much gnashing of teeth and concerned eye brows I doubt you could get 18 GOP senators to actually vote to convict. Trump will most likely remain in office until his term expires or he resigns of his choice.

I actually did a search a few weeks ago to find my first post with the word “Trump” in this forum. Oddly enough, it was a post about the Orlando nightclub shooting. But in subsequent posts, even after the election, I was surprised at how supportive I sounded.

My own hindsight remembers being nervous about national security implications, but I think I sort of assumed that we had enough guardrails around domestic policy. But in my posts here, I was curious to see what Trump would accomplish first—I actually assumed he’d try to balance the budget!!!! Hahahahahaaaaa!!! I think in my head, I assumed that if he was a narcissist who needed to be loved by the people, and that if popular opinion was with progressive policies, he’d adopt them as his own and force the GOP to get in lock step. I wasn’t yet aware of how entrenched in our bubbles we were until “Fake News” blew up.

Him running in 2024 would destroy the GOP. I'm all for it!

On the one hand I think this could be true and I'd be all for it! But then again I thought he would trash the GOP in '16, '18 and 2020... Yet he and the laughable party got a frightening amount of votes every time! 2020 wasn't a victory, in a sane country trump should have won no more than three states.

I dunno about impeachment, won't all of Biden's "We just did : 46" hats have to be recalled if Pence becomes president for next two weeks? I don't think people buying them now would want them knowing that Pence is 46 and Biden is 47.

I would have given Pence last night to invoke the 25th. He didn't so he won't, that ship has sailed. Impeach today.

They were certifying the vote until like 4am, and Pence needs to get half of the Cabinet on board before he can make a move. That's a lot of phone calls. He can't just jump on Twitter and announce it.

Trump set Pence up. He's probably disappointed he didn't get killed in the attempted coup.
