if teachers don't like their jobs, or feel they are being underpaid, they can f*cking quit. Supply and demand is what sets the wages in our country.

And you know what else, and education degree is one of the p*ssy degrees that's easy to get. Engineering, Math, CS, Finance, there's a lot of degrees that are tougher, and ya know what, people in those fields should be paid more.

And you wanna know something else, the teachers can get a second job for june thru august if they want one. It ain't hard.

Actually it's the Parents fault for raising a generation of ill behaved me first little bastards.

i totally agree. but the librals will never tell you its your fault (the parent). theyll tell you its the schools fault

First off ......

the comments aren't the same.. I didn't threaten anybody..

Off the cuff.... hardly... What facinates me is the panic of these very same school officials if students were making those comments.......

A union says it it's okay and off the cuff... A students says it ....suspension.........Children learn by example.... Teaching 101

Of course not. If they work at McDonalds they can maybe get the wonderful bonus of a discount on food.
Come on, how many employers have good paying jobs for people who just want to work for 2 or 2 1/2 months?

not true. the amount teachers get paid is based on how much the state (or district) can afford. the reason why teachers are such idiots is cause people that are worth 50-60k/yr will not accept a job that pays 30k/yr (teaching)

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

Yes the parents deserve blame for the way their children have been raised, their lack of discipline, the apathy toward learning, etc.... The teachers and schools also deserve blame. We have strayed from teaching the basics in many instances(I've seen it first hand), and we also do not hold bad teachers accountable.

<< . The fact that you have to resort, as always, to name calling is indicative of both your intelligence and your class. >>

My intelligence, you can't even tell when I offer up a compliment.

<< You can insult Oklahoma all you want but I would gladly take 10 Okies over 1000 Californians any day >>

You dumb ass, a good portion of Californians are descendents of Okies, especially in Central California. My mothers side migrated from Oklohoma during the 30's to escape the Dust Bowl. I know Okies well, in fact I can actually understand them when they speak.

I know all about the Okie migration to Cali....The descendants of those Okies are no longer Okies though....they have been forever tainted by living on the left coast. 😉

<< i totally agree. but the librals will never tell you its your fault (the parent). theyll tell you its the schools fault >>

I agree that the Liberals do that but the Republicans do the same damn thing Uncle Joe.

yes perhaps theres a reason why they didn't decide to go home hah😛 tained by the beauty that is california🙂

<< they have been forever tainted by living on the left coast. >>

They have actually seen the Ocean and lived amongst others of all races, religions and cultures. If that's what you call being tainted then being tainted is a good thing.

Conservatives like to lay blame on the schools.

When Liberals and Moderates tend to understand that the Parents deserve most of the blame.

I've been all over the U.S and world, have been exposed to all kinds of different cultures and races but I still like Oklahoma the best. If I were to ever leave the only two places I would consider movig to(within the U.S.) are San Marcos, Texas or Clolorado Springs, Colorado.

<< I've been all over the U.S and world, have been exposed to all kinds of different cultures and races but I still like Oklahoma the best >>

There's no place like home. Actually, with all the influx of Out of Staters California is starting to suck. The Bay Area use to be a great place to live but they ruined that.

heh, heh. I take it you're still in school. Most people who have worked don't talk about how hard a degree is as an argument as to how hard their job is. People tend to talk about hours, stress, appreciation, pay... things that you will probably learn about in the near future.

yeah, teachers often find a job during the summer (painting houses, working at a restuarant, and other such jobs). They take second jobs because the regular salary is low.

This is one of the rare times when I actually agree with Red dawn. A large portion of the education system problems is the lack of parental concern. However I would not completly place the blame entirely on parents. The schools have done a wonderful job of passing kids that should be failed or kicked out. And since we keep all these non learners in class, the schools now have to water down the material.

Teachers have a good deal. If I only worked 8 months(subtract xmas break +spring break+various other holidays) of the year I would fully expect to make 1/3 less. We could pay teachers more, but then industry would just raise the salary to attract the best and brightest.

Most of the teachers I know really enjoy their summers off. I know I miss having my summers off.

<< parents need to realize that teachers and counselors dont rear children, parents do. >>

I thought day care centers raised children, at least judging by most of the families around here. After all, these days, both parents have to work to provide the bare necessities, such as $30K+ SUV's, $500K+ homes, big screen TV's, European vacations, etc.

Interesting link to NYS Education Department of Teaching NYS link takes a while to get there but if you make it... it seems that if you ask a question, general, or about teacher discipline or certification, you have to give your social security number.. Very intrusive if not down right illegal... for those who can't make it ...

here is a copy and paste...

Not complete with box frames though... did the best I could...

It amazes me that any leader of the political left has any credibility whatsoever on the education issue. It's fine and dandy for Democrats such as the Clintons, Al Gore, the Kennedys, and the like to shoot thier mouth off about their 'faith' in and 'support' for the public schools, but when it comes to their own kids, where do they send them? Private schools, of course. It's fine for your kids to be the test subjects for various failed-attempts at education reform, but for their kids, they clearly want better.

Mursilis

I always wondered about that myself.. Don't forget the Rev Al Sharpton, private schools for his kids.. Public for his followers.. Strange isn't it?

A few years back, a local paper did a survey of DC public school teachers (DC being one of the worst systems in the country, suffering from an extreme case of bureaucratic bloat), and something like a 1/3 of them were sending their own kids to private school!

Mursilis -

I don't think the polititians are saying you have to send your kid to a public school; it is up to the parents to decide whether or not they want to fork over the extra cash to pay for private school. I don't see anything inconsistant in much the same way that politicians who are gun proponents don't have to own guns if they personally feel unconfortable having a gun in the house with kids.

Save your money and send your kids to a private school. I did and I didn't need any free handouts from the government.

I thought what Mursilis was commenting on ...
was their hypocricy..

What they really should be saying is..
your poor so tuff..
NO Good School For You..
