The borked economy, the constant tells in Chinese (one of my mains is a 60 rogue, they just assume we're all Chinese), the constant spam via both /tell and mail for me to buy gold and the clueless noobs running around in their two tier1 BoEs and mostly all other BoE gear rather than BoP, wiping groups & raids, don't affect my gameplay?
Read much?

i think he actually wants you to explain these mysteries. there is no constant spam, like many others have pointed out. apparently the farmers are targetting you directly and leaving everyone else alone. if you join pugs you deserve to get wiped. there is no effect on the economy, that's a myth period. anything else?

Yes, I've never, in any MMO I have every played online, recieved a tell asking me if I wanted to buy gold. Ever. Even in WoW.

The affect on the economy is not visible. Someone farms the gold to purchase something, but instead sells it to someone else. That someone else purchases the item. There is zero affect on the market. It's a myth, like fisher said. And as I've said before, it doesn't really affect you.

Certainly not as seriously as someone who buys game currency.

Sorry to hear about your marriage, no man deserves such a fate - not even you, my gold-buying, lying, antagonistic friend. Variety is the spice of life ;)

If the cards weren't still being farmed they'd be fetching much more than 3g apiece. Surely you've taken an economics class at some point in time?

On spam to buy gold; it does indeed happen. It's likely that it's more prominent for me since I'm on a transfer server. Regardless, it's one part of a much larger problem, though it's rather pointless to argue it since you sad, sad people will never admit, even to yourselves, that you're harming the genre by cheating and just being allaround scumballs.

let me explain to you why gold farmers are allowed to exist. MMOs want to pull as many paying customers as possible, but some people just can't spend the time it takes to survive in these games. you aren't going to be doing much endgame playing 10 hours a week. so along come farmers, who farm gold and sell it to these people who want to play, but can't grind constantly. this in turn gives the MMO company more paying customers and more revenue. sure in public they condemn it and every once in awhile ban an account or two, but that's it. you don't think they can't see who logs in from where? do you think a farming company with 20 computers in one room can't be tracked down? they could ban every account associated with that IP and continue to ban anyone from there. as i said before, once these companies start paying more in new accounts than they are making they would go away. but these guys are bringing in more people who are going to play their game and pay them monthly for it. so they let it go on. and if they aren't going to stop it, then there is no reason people shouldn't take advantage of it. they have as much right to enjoy the game as you do, regardless of how l33t you feel because you can pwn n00bs with your uber rogue.
Thank you, Captain Obvious. Have you any other brilliant insights? Do you think perhaps the earth might revolve around the sun? Do you have a nagging suspicion that grass is green?

Would you mind quoting me where I said otherwise? In fact, if you were to actually read this thread you'd see I pointed this out earlier. I truly hope you and/or your wife is sterile; illiteracy is a big enough problem without your contribution via genetic progeneration.

You're either completely new to MMOGs or entirely delusional (with an outside chance you actually work for / own one of the farming corporations) if you think this doesn't severely harm the games. I've watched it grow from the small scale, independent transfers which have always happened into the booming industry it is now, firsthand, and seen the terrible effects it's had on the genre; it's really not dissimilar to having seen TV degenerate into the Jerry Springer show and people eating slugs. What's the next target for the unwashed masses to ruin? What good things are left in this world for them to infect?

it's a myth made up by people who can't afford to buy gold. that's reality period. and i've been playing MMOs since they were called MUDs, i wouldn't consider that new. :)

If the cards weren't still being farmed they'd be fetching much more than 3g apiece. Surely you've taken an economics class at some point in time?

sure when the supply runs out. the bug was fixed last patch, and the decks are about useless anyway unless you still consider brd "end game".

yeah it happens. once a month, once every two months. it's probably not more prominent for you, but it is likely you're exaggerating to try and prove your point. that's also called lying.

just keep telling yourself "i'm not really a level 60 rogue" and perhaps one day you can join reality again.

I'd suggest going back and getting your GED then - it's never too late. I'm really not sure where you're getting this "uber l33t" stuff from, I'm guessing from your own experiences buying gold in an attempt (failed, no doubt, which explains your hostility) to be as skilled as people who earned their level, rank, gear and gold legitimately. I've a nagging suspicion you're one of these people running around in their two tier-1 epics, doing "end-game" content such as Strat, Scholo and even UBRS - it certainly seemed to anger you enough when I mentioned it.

Regardless, we're done. I've gotten in my daily quota of pushing against brick walls of stupidity and grown tired. Have a good one, and remember - don't spend the rent money on gold.

I must admit, I do enjoy toying with the feeble-minded, such as those who'd buy MMORPG currency. G'nite, don't forget to teach those little rats of yours that cheating is the way to get ahead ;)

You really want that last word, don't ya? :p It would just eat away at you (sort of like the way sucking and having to buy gold does) if you didn't get it, wouldn't it? :)

Perhaps the genre could once again be fun without these morons and the industry which has cropped up to feed them.

Somehow I doubt anyone buying fake online currency will be working at menial jobs.

Who else would have the low mental capacity required?

Gurck, what does buying gold have to do with mental capacity  ?

I was once tempted to do it for World of Warcraft. The offer I saw was something like 200 gold for ?60. I didn't buy it in the end though (I was about level 13 or 14 when I was considering it).

Anyway, in World of Warcraft there's not much of a point in buying gold unless you're level 60 (or almost 60), since most of the really cool armour sets and epic items are for levels 55 - 60. Whenever I start a new character I just get one of my high level characters to post money to them, that way they have a head start.

After reading this thread I decided I may want to buy gold. After all, what's the difference between buying gold to increase one's enjoyment in a game and paying $20-30 for a nice dinner that lasts an hour? Which is more 'stupid'? :p

all of a sudden all of his posts make perfect sense. i can't believe i let myself get trolled like that. gah.

i would think you'd want to buy it at lower levels to get better equipment to level faster. once you hit 55-60 you start getting BoP equipment that you can't buy anyway. i guess if you want an epic mount or something.

you're not ruining gurck's life by buying dinner tho. that is what he said when someone asked about basketball cards or whatever.

RBachman: It's unbelieveable how arrogant you seem to me. I just don't understand how you kinda "hate" WoW and yet, you still play it. And I have to say, it's not the people, who don't have alot of money in general, who would buy gold. It's the ones that don't have the time to the grind'n'farm at least 2 or 3 hours a day. Exactly a reason why I thought about buying Wow gold. My time is more precious than that stupid grinding.

If you read in between the lines, its pretty evident that he's the one destroying the game for himself not the farmers.

In short, I think it's lame. Play the game the way it's meant to be played. If you don't like playing it the way it was intended, or designed, and have to "cheat" in order to enjoy it, try finding something else.
