I didn't check the mid rangers. Interesting though. Also, why is a 1070 still $400? A 1060 is $300? Good god almighty. I hope Intel pneumatically launches a giant boot right where it belongs in relation to Nvidia's anatomy, because we need competition in the GPU arena as much as we needed it in the CPU arena. So stupid to be paying $400 for 1070 class performance this late in the game. Holy crap.
The sad part is I bought 1070s back in 2016 for under $350... We should be having fire sales on 1060s for $150-180 and 1070s for under $300 at this point in the cycle.

I'm sure hoping 1080ti start to drop in price. At least in Canada, prices remain around $1000-$1300 or so, thanks to the weak canadian dollar.

depends... You can get a 1060 for under 300 bucks new ... to hold you over. yeah, a 1060, may not play all the games you want at certain levels, but it will let you play games decently for the time being. Then when and IF they come out with a new card(s).... You can sell they 1060 for 100~200 (whatever you can get for it) and buy what you really wanted.

Tho, one question you gotta ask yourself.... Do you think when the new 11XX flavor comes out, will it be the card you want? What do I mean by that? Normally, companies will design the lower end card first and then step up to the faster cards, and then a few months later bring the best card (fastest memory and clock speeds) out. Would royally suck, if you waited and spent your wad on something new just to realize you should have waited for the best of the 11XX flavors to come a few months longer. Just like when the 1080 came out, the 1080ti came out a bit later and was the card most people wanted.

I'm thinking most people think that by end of August we'll see a new card, (that's what people want) ... But in reality, I think by 4Q 2018 we'll see that possibility come to life. Nvidia isn't stupid and most gamers are going to want the new flavor for Xmas. Then again, maybe the new flavor will come out by 3Q and the grand daddy TI to come out in the 4th Q. Time will tell! :) By then, if you haven't made up your mind to sell your used 1080ti... Be lucky to get 2~300 bucks for them.

Moral of the story, don't miss the boat to get the best dollar for your used hardware. As that opportunity doesn't stay open for long!

Whatever you get will be a huge upgrade from what you have. I say spend 300 bones and just get a 1060 6GB and you should be set until the 1180 comes out and time passes for prices to fall down.

The 1180 will come out in September, this is for certain at this point. I am going to buy the 1180 in October. Even though I prefer buying a 1180ti, this will last me until the 1180ti comes out by August 2019 then I will sell this card.

I think it would be best for someone like me who has the 680 Classified edition 4gb to just wait at this point, the 1180 will likely be the price of a 1080ti now. I am gonna wait and buy it in October, the 1180 will be at least 20-30% more powerful than the 1080ti.

Might as well just wait till November if you gonna wait till October. Usually the best time to sell anything is having that brand new shiny video card for Bob, under the tree. Will be interesting times! :) Let's see a Gen2 Thread Ripper 32 Core 64 threads, and two 1180ti's! Thanks Santa! Oh and a seasonic 1200Watt P/S LOL! Probably only set you back 3~4K bucks! It's only money right? Can't take it with you! And...they will gladly print more!

Does EVGA still have their Step-Up program? That sounds just right for this scenario.

Do to the GPU shortage the prices of this gen of GPUs are at or above release day prices. This is sill apparent today. So the question is why would you want to buy a video card released March 10, 2017 at the same price or higher then a year ago when it's possible that a replacement card should drop the price?

If anything wait until the new cards come out then buy a 1080TI at a reduce price. However, there is the possibility of forced driver attrition of the 10 series. But that's another topic
