I am sick of using my native 4k low input lag 4k 43 inch TV on 1080p because my 680 GTX 4gb can't support full color spectrum at 4k since it is HDMI 1.4. I really want a new GPU and don't wanna wait much longer, I originally intended to wait for the 2080ti but that is likely 2.5-3 years away at least.

https://www.extremetech.com/gaming/267982-nvidia-gtx-1180-specs-allegedly-leaked

The 1180 Founders edition will likely release this August and normal version in September. The 1080ti did release 9 months after the 1080 so the 1180ti will likely release April 2019 at the earliest.

I really don't know what to do now, the 11 series will be the main card for 2019 but the 2080 will likely release in 2020 and I do wanna buy the 2080ti but that will be a long way off.

I don't know when the 1180ti will be released but I think it might release a lot sooner, if it releases before April 2019 then I will wait but no hints yet, gonna have to wait until Nvidia makes an announcement about it, if I buy a 1080ti now (I have enough disposable income for it) then I might regret it.

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3712674/gtx-1180-gtx-1080.html

"King DranzerMay 27, 2018, 11:05 PM On paper(if the leaks are somewhat near to true specs) GTX1180 is around 20% more powerful than GTX1080Ti and around 50% more powerful than GTX1080. That is a huge gain. It is completely worth waiting for."

It does bother me though, I don't like buying Geforce GPU's that are not the TI version, once the 1180ti is released I will be tempted to sell the 1180 to buy it , if I do end up buying the 1180. The 1180ti will likely be a 30% performance increase over the 1080ti at least.

https://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1180-specs-performance-price-release-date-prelimenary/

The Founders edition 1180 is supposedly coming July 30, regular versions in August. I just hope the 1180ti is released in December-Jan, that would be great and worth waiting for, 9-10 months waiting after the 1180 is too long.

What would you do?

Don't rule out something cheaper like the 1060. Would solve your main problem of driving the screen at 4k and still non trivially faster than your 680 (I think?).

Otherwise pick on a desired gaming capability at 4k resolution and take a card giving it, waiting if not.

I think the earliest you will see ANY 1180 is Christmas. But probably further on out that that.
1180ti is at least a year a way after the normal 1180 comes out.

You're really far behind the curve at the moment so I think you need to buy something now to not go insane playing the waiting game. I'd get a 1060 or find a good price on a second hand 1070.

I was going to buy a Ultrawide monitor after I get my new GPU, was gonna play games like Planetside 2 and CS:GO on that. The TV I have is good enough for 60hz gaming at 4k.

https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ku7000

Input lag is 24.7ms on game mode, 21.4ms at 4k 60hz and 21.2ms at 4k 60hz+HDR On. The downside is 60hz at 4k+ HDR /4:4:4 color setting is 37.1ms but I have the 43 inch model, the 40 and 43 inch model is a AA01 panel, not a Samsung panel so it has better motion blur and likely has lower input lag, I still have to test it.

High end TN panel Gaming monitors are mostly all 2-5 ms input lag, the VA ultra wide panels are likely 4-10ms input lag depending on the model. Still, under 30ms input lag is fine for gaming, even FPS gaming. For the most competitive FPS games like CS:GO, Unreal Tournmament 4/Quake Champions though, I would prefer something lower input lag but I mostly play Planetside 2 anyway.

The next new Series is coming in August or September, I think I should wait, I know I will regret buying a 1080ti or a cheaper card if a better card comes in September. I preferably wanna buy a new Card this Christmas or in January, maybe a early 1180ti model will be out by then.

Even if I did buy a cheaper card like a 1070ti for 700$ CAD including tax, there would be no point if I buy a new GPU in December, I rather have the 1180 but I do prefer buying TI models.

Doubt a 1180ti will be out by christmas but many 1180 models will be out for sure though it will be around 2000$ CAD so a 1180ti will be at least 2500$ CAD.

Well if you want to buy the 1180 then go ahead, as like you say they should be our around august for FE cards.

However I was under the impression that you are ultimately only interested in the 1180Ti, and since I don't see a world in which the 1180Ti comes out less than six months after the 1180, but probably later, I recommended something to tide you over til 1180Ti release.

Getting an 1180 is not a bad choice, it will likely be a little bit faster than a 1080Ti. Oh and I think you're being very pessimistic about the pricing of the new cards, I doubt they'll be that expensive.

Keep in mind you will be at a disadvantage playing CS:GO 21:9. CS:GO is stretched, there is no additional FOV. I played with black bars when I owned the PG349Q.

I'm not sure the 1100 series cards will be available in the next couple months. Jensen announced at Computex that new GPUs won't be available for "a long time". If the 1180 comes out closer to Christmas, the 1180Ti probably won't be out until summer or fall of 2019.

At this point I'd do as others have suggested, buy a 1060/1070/RX 580 and either hold out for the 1180 or wait until next year for the 1180Ti. The 1080Ti is also a good option if you can find one at MSRP.

I don't see a 1180 Ti until this time next year or later. I think they're gonna extend the release cycle as long as possible for the gaming side until AMD drops something new. They're already on top so theres not much of an incentive

I recently built a new system and went with a 1080ti because I decided I wanted the performance now for 4k and would hold on to it until I could get an 1180ti. I did not want to settle with a slower card and wait for an 1180 and then be wishing I had gone high end and waited for the ti refresh of the next model.

Put aside $700 and buy a gtx2080 in the next 3 months.
It should be at least 15% faster than a gtx1080ti and have all the latest features.

Your post has made me change my mind now, perhaps I should get the 1080ti now. The 1080 will likely come out by December at the latest, 1180ti by June 2019 at the earliest. 2019 will be the year AMD comes out with new cards so they will likely release the 2080 by November 2019 at the earliest, might be better to wait for the 2080 if it comes out in 2019 instead of the 1180ti.

Now I don't wanna buy the 1080ti after reading this. Spring means a 2080ti could be released as early as March 21 2019. It is annoying Nvidia isn't making any official announcements. The is contradictory information here compared to other links, saying the 2080 performance would be like a 1080ti, the 2080ti will be 70% more powerful than the 1080ti, this seems like nonsense , the disparity is too big. Then there is the 1180 saying it will do 20-30% higher performance than the 1080ti.

If you go with a high end card now you will be less tempted to get the next model and could likely wait until the next ti refresh. That was my goal, to get on the ti refresh and stay there with the high end.

It real simple. Nvidia will release new card in the next few months.
The gtx2080 or 1180, whatever they call it ,will be faster then a gtx1080ti and cost less.

The next generation, gtx1180ti will be out before next summer and should be 45% faster than a gtx1080ti but cost more.

Its really not rocket science to figure this out.
Nvidia is very predictable, and if you follow there history of g
GPU launches, this is very close to what they will do.

The new graphics card wont be released until next year im 95% certain on that. And even if its released in late fall or winter thats still 4-6 months away. Ive been building computer for 2 decades now, and do you know how MANY TIMES ive heard jokers say.. just wait.. just wait.. just wait... Keep waiting by all means, i garuntee 6 months after the 1180 or whatever the hell its called is released the TI version of it will come out, and then a year later the next card, and the next card.. Just buy whats best right now and keep that card for 3 years until you need to upgrade again. Its not like the 1080TI will be slow and obsolete in a year.. I've always bought the best video cards or close to it and they lasted me easily 3 years and then i get the next one and a 1080ti will be no different.. Nvidias CEO said it wont be released for a long time. They have no reason to release it, their current cards like the 1070TI and up are 20-100% faster then Vega 56 and 64.. They have no competition.

My GPU was a R9-290 Tri-x OC which is 40-50% faster then your 680GTX. So i can only imagine how slow and painfull your Pile of crap is.. I upgraded my monitor to a 2560x1440 2k monitor 3 months ago and getting 20-40fps in my games on medium or low was driving me insaine. I purchased a 1070TI forgetting i have freesync, so i purchased a Vega 64, compared the two and the 1070TI was 10-20% faster then the Vega 64, also the Vega 64 has freesync flickering which is a major problem and it had many other issues like never being able to reach advertised speeds due to how hot it got, and micro stuttering to crap drivers causing games to not load up like subnautica and the recent drivers.

I got fed up, and i RMAd the Vega 64 and the 1070TI, and used that $1100 i spent on both towards buying a Asus ROG STRIX 1080 TI overclocked edition for $770 at microcenter locally. Best decision i ever made, because i have my R9-290 for sale on ebay for $190 and ive gotten 6 offers for $165, i can use that 165 to deduct from the 770$ i spent so in actuality i spent only $600 for my 1080TI. The 1080TI got 125 fps in games where the Vega 64 got only 60-70.. it was 70-100% faster then AMD's pile of junk and a billion times faster then my r9-290.

Who cares if a new card comes out in 4-6 months. Its not like the 1080ti will be obsolete man

How will a new gpu cost less then a 1080TI.. are you high ? The 1080ti will go down in price and the new gpu will take over the $700 1080TI.. and miners will sell their 1080TI's and buy the new video card causing a influx of used worn out gpu's on the market and the new gpu's will be impossible to buy just watch

A gtx 2080 will cost less than a gtx1080ti and will be released in 2 or 3 months and will be faster with a better feature set.
Notice I said gtx2080 non ti.
The next 2080ti will release about March next year,

After the comments of Nvidia's CEO at CES, I think the 1180 will come out in late 2018. Why wait? My GTX 1080TI is stellar.

Tom's put out a recent article with a few rumours which might be relevant. I'm picturing the 1180 a touch above 1080Ti performance, plus early adopters tax I can imagine pricing up near a grand. Maybe dropping a little when 3rd party cards are out in October. No way can I imagine a 1180Ti until well into next year, so I vote OP buys something which is "OK" at "4k" now/soon and enjoys gaming instead of waiting.

Recently, TweakTown's Anthony Garreffa reported a precise launch date of July 30th. According to anonymous industry sources, the original launch date was supposed to be mid-July but there was a two week delay, which makes the July 30th date plausible.

Third-party cards won't arrive until September at the earliest.

TweakTown guestimates that there will be two variants, a less expensive $999 card and a $1,499 model with more RAM on board. Our sources say that pricing will be higher than the GTX 1080 Ti which carries a $699 MSRP. Nvidia's Titan Xp card, its current high-end consumer GPU, goes for $1,200.

Sigh. Let's not make wild claims or anything. The 1070Ti is on average 2% slower than Vega 64 (i.e. indiscernible) while the 1080Ti is on average 29% faster.

It sounds like your issues with Vega are specific to you and not the general experience for users.

That I can agree with. OP would be well-served by a 1080Ti if he can find one for around MSRP.

I got a couple 40 inch 4k panels dirt cheap so have been waiting about a year for something good so I can push them better with. Just grabbed a 1080ti ftw hybrid at 750 shipped. It's only been installed for 2 days so haven't had a chance to push it, but the limited gaming I've done it's looking nice and only hitting about 50c at game load.
