Does "Saddam will be stopped" mean we are going to attack??? Until he says something a bit more forward like, "The US is at war with Iraq," then I don't think we are techincally at war. I think it's a last ditch effort to scare Saddam into submission. I didn't see the address by the way...I'm at work. But just read what you all said.

This isnt sounding good. He's pointing out all the weapons Iraq still have/developed and other problems in Iraq, terrorism plots.

i haven't seen proven evidence that he really has othern what bush is saying. No hard evidence have been found.

There is an article on kuro5hin.org you should read.

Here

In summary, spouting out our evidence would be idiodic of our government to do.

The strange thing is, Irak were showing signs of cooperation earlier today when they let the inspectors interview scientists alone...

Maybe that is what is pushing this, if Irak starts to cooperate fully now, then what grounds will there be for a war?

Nothing new here. I was expecting him to end with something like our planes are already on their way, or maybe pull a Matrix and end with a Goodbye, Mr. Hussein line. Damn, a speech like that would piss people off.

I propose we trade Dubya to Iraq for Saddam to do with what ever we / they want to do with each individual

Gawd damn he can't speak. I say we make Resolution 1549: POWELL MUST DELIVER ALL SPEECHES TO THE NATION!:p

Hehe, I've been saying that since he started running for Prez.

I'll agree with that. Bush still does poorly with prepared speeches. He's much better at when he speaks without reading a teleprompter and speaks from the heart.

I agree. When he's speaking from the heart, he nails it 100%. But when he's in front of the teleprompter, it's like a dear in headlights. When Powell speaks, I can just hear the national anthem playing and see flags waiving in the background :D

He is telling the Security Council to put up or shut up.

No, it sounds very good. Bush is not going to shrink from his duty to protect the world against mad dictators...

His final line said it all, "Saddam will be stopped"

People are going to die, Americans, allies and irakis will die....

I assume that you will do your duty and join the American forces in the front as you seem so keen on this war?

If Saddam were smart...he'd start working for exile. Of course, nobody ever accused Saddam of doing the right thing.

That thought occoured to me as well...

Would not in the least surprise me, but I honestly think he is giving the UN one final chance.

I wonder if he knew that was part of the job description when he threw his hat into the presidential race.

Was it a real scientist?
Was the scientist bugged?
Was it a scientist working on a non weapons project?

We need more than 1, we need them all.

I hope so. I would much prefer a peaceful resolution, but I just don't think it will happen :(

Amen to that thought...

Bush should stick to speaking from his heart, it works better...

My favorite line from him is still when he was standing on the mound of rubble of the WTC with the rescuers around him. He was talking into a bullhorn and reading a prepared speech.

One of the rescue workers said, "we can't hear you"

Bush dropped his prepared comments, pointed at the rescue worker and said, "I can hear you!". "I can hear you, the rest of the world hears you, and the people who knocked these buildings down are going to hear from all of us."

BTW, for those idiots who have forgotten why we're going to war, watch these videos:
