Edit: After reading, change that to a 996,000 man army.

Too much info to read heh.

I'm assuming the summary is that they are better equiped then I previously thought?

If better equipped means they have large numbers of 40 year old tanks, then yes.

Oh lol

I'm so used to having people who quote me trying to start an arguement because they disagree I just jumped to that conclusion. Either way NK is better off then Iraq, they don't have any tanks left heh

Then why is he screaming for it every minute of every day?

Its his job to act in the best interest of the US and its citizens.

Saddam poses a threat, he wants to forcefully eliminate the threat because the peaceful way has been failing for the last 12 years. He is doing his duty as commander in chief.

What threat does Saddam pose to the US, or our interests?

I don't know... maybe the fact that he has harboring terrorists, hates everyone in the freeworld, and is actively seeking WMD to use on us. Just a few ideas... I guess if he had WMD to use on us it wouldn't be that big of a threat

Explain how a war with NK would be another Vietnam?

We'd kick their ass militarily in just about every way possible, but because it isn't another two week war that everyone is used to, the public will complain, and we won't be able to go full out, ala WWII, to completely win. Add in the fact that NK likely has at least a nuke or two, and it makes it even tougher to operate in this day and age where any loss of life is unacceptable.

this has very little to wmd's or the welfare of the iraqi people, and more about getting revenge with saddam, and even more to do with oil.

wow, hasnt anyone read their u.s. history before? do you suddenly think that the u.s. government is going to stop lying just now?

im on the fence as to whether there should be war, but let's not fool ourselves into thinking we're going in there with the best of intentions (welfare of the iraqi people, security of the united states, my a$$).

Yes, let them the world everything we know. That way people and stuff can get moved again.

i'm not asking for everything!!! i'm asking just for one single piece of hard evidence!! the U.S. has told inspectors already a few times to look at certain sites. there was a story about an ex-bodyguard of saddam who defected who told of secret bunkers and told exact locations, but nothing so far! these are huge trucks, and a fleet of them, you dont have to give away anything find just ONE THING CONCRETE besides pictures and empty warheads from the 80s. is that too hard for them to do?

they're saying that every time before an inspection that iraq is moving materials before that site is inspected, well duh, do something different! they're saying that there these huge fleet of trucks and equipment that suddenly disappeared, or they "lost track of".

my feeling is that they already know where all this stuff is, but they're already set on having a war (as a last resort my a$$), and if they were to disclose this information now, it would only cause for the rest of the security council to ask for more inspectors to be sent in to find anything else.

I was just looking at CNN.com about troop placement. When did we start deploying enough troops to hit 200,000 by mid Feb.? They way they make it out, we already have multiple carrier groups (there will be a total of 4 deployed to the area) within striking distance. 4 carrier groups! One carrier group is more firepower then most countries... We do not have a problem with lack of firepower in the region. I assume they will follow desert storm's plan. Take over the air, nail anything military that as much as thinks of sticking it's head out, and sweep in with mechanized infantry to mop up. I just hope we can stay out of urban combat. Our losses and those of people who are more or less innocent will sky rocket if we end up doing fire fights in the streets.

Do you want the name of meeting place where the Al queda hang out on friday?
Or maybe the name of the guy that knows where they hang out?
Or how about the Coordinates of the super secret nuke lab?
Maybe a full chem warhead that was signed and dated by Saddam Himself?

I really doubt any evidence presented would convince you.

If this the case, the iraqi minders have infilitrated the inspectors. This means the inspectors are nothing more than tourists. We have played the game, we let Saddam think he is winning the cat and mouse game. We know where the stuff got moved, but we are not telling. We are keeping that information to ourselves so we know where to put the bombs when and if the time comes.

I really doubt any evidence presented would convince you.

a single piece of real evidence will convince me. a sample of residue of biological weapons, this stuff is not easy to hide, a recently emptied warhead, etc. if they see trucks moving away im sure they can tell the inspectors to follow those trucks and track them.
the u.s. has tons of intelligence and is simply not revealing it because they want a war.

i dont think we'll put bombs there if there's biological weapons. i think we use that information so that we know where NOT to bomb.
i dont think the inspectors are useless and neither does the U.S. (at least they havent said anything like that to the contrary) - they just feel like they're in the way.

If were to disclose the information now, it would be gone by the time the inspectors got there. The inspectors are nothing more than tourists.
because the u.s. has made them so. they're content to let the inspectors do their running around and then start their war.

Gee, I dont know. Maybe its because of his hatred towards U.S Citizens and the surrounding area. You think he wouldn't try to get a Biological or Chemical Weapon into a Major City like London or LA? You think we should leave him alone and let him leave his people in poverty and suffering?

The proof you seek lies in the non-cooperation of Iraq.

1. We still do not have a full disclosure of weapons. This is an inspections process, not an easter egg hunt.
If Saddam was serious you would be seeing the results you want.

2. Lack of scientist interviews. These have not happened.

3. No documents showing destructions of weapons. No documents or peopel seem to know what happened to them. IF they were destroyed, someone would know.

4. Obvious movement of material before sites have been inspected.

Iraq is not cooperating. What do you think they have to hide?

iraq is cooperating, but perhaps not up to the speed that the u.s. would like. i think we should expect that though, what if the fbi came to search your house looking for drugs and you knew that you didn't have any (just an example, i think iraq might have wmds). would you just voluntarily give information to them? iraq is cooperating very slowly, but they want to do it on their terms.

anyway, as i said before, i am pretty sure that iraq is hiding something, but my gripe is that the u.s. will not divulge that information because they want a war. as i said before, this whole wmd thing seems like it's a distraction to me, i think the u.s. could care less what they have, they just want to know where they are so that they can avoid them during the war...they just want the oil.

This is NOT a scavenger hunt for the inspectors. It is NOT their job to find the hidden weapons. It is Saddam's job to lead them directly to the weapons.

Iraq doesn't get to do it on their terms, the punishment for not complying according to OUR terms this time means war.

North Korea is not modern by U.S. standards but they have enough artillery along their border to flatten Seoul. They wouldn't even need a nuclear weapon.
