Why don't you all leave since you hate it so much???

Wow, you really just read whatever you want into anything. The act was stupid. Well within her right as a US citizen, but he still thinks it was stupid. Is it really hard to understand that? I think it was stupid too, but it was her right to do it. Whether or not she gets her job back is between her and her employer.

Regardless of political affiliation, I would prefer bus drivers not flip the bird in front of students, thank you very much. Did she do the same to drivers who cut her off?

I agree with you Vic.
Well maybe she didn't do it in full view of the students.

It's bull of course. The kids were obviously looking at the motorcade and not staring at the bus driver.

Very lame excuse on all those that support the firing of this courageous patriotic woman.

Her obscene gesture was neither courageous nor patriotic. It was just plain stupid.

free speech is one thing...but don't do obscene gestures in front of kids, especially while on the job.

The role model angle is a cheap excuse. They're middle public school students. They've seen that gesture for years and know exactly what it means.

so this makes it right do crude things in front of the children?

you're another tool.

So we shouldn't have any standards for people who work with children? By your logic, it's ok for teachers to cuss at people in front of the students?

People around here are right. YOu ARE a tool.

Standards yes, insanity no.

Slap on the wrist but not firing.

How many times do you get a chance to flip off the guy that has ruined your beloved Country?

You have to leave your political beliefs at home when you go to work (excepting inherently political jobs). Period.

I disagree politically with most people at my job, but I keep quiet about it. Work is not the time or place for it.

What she did was pretty stupid, but I don't see it being worth firing her over, UNLESS there have been other problems in her history.
"Oh, won't someone PLEASE think of the children?"
those middle-schoolers see much worse every dammed day, and seeing the bus driver flip someone off would be hilarious to them. Besides, whe's bus driver, not a moral guidance counselor...
A hefty slap on the wrist, whatever is approprite in her union agreement for the number of times she's been in trouble, but let's not blow this out of proportion...She gave Bush the bird...how many of us would have LOVED to have that opportunity?!!?

Friggin MIDDLE SCHOOLERS? meaning the youngest possible somebody on that bus was probably 12? these kids are getting pregnant at that age for gods sake, who cares if they saw the middle finger.

Bad role model? SHE IS A BUS DRIVER for gods sake how much of a positive role model is she??!?! Maybe if she was the leader of the free world and lied about a war and has no grasp of the english language Id say she's a bad role model...

Oh yeah its really "patriotic" to flick of the President. People really need to learn some respect, who cares if you don't like the guy, at least respect what the office stands for.

I was 13 freshman year of highschool, and no, I did not skip a grade. I think your math is a little off.

Excusing bad behavior on the grounds of free speech and job position will get humans nowhere; we need to accept what things are disrespectful and stupid. It is not as if flipping off Bush will change his life. I doubt he cares about the thoughts of one single commoner; he already has a huge list of people that hate him. All the gesture did was set a rude example for middle schoolers. I was ten the first year of middle school, and I'm sure I was very influentiable. What ever happened to the idea of adults showing examples of civility through self control?

With all this said, I would hesitate to fire a employee based on this single event. I would guess, though, that this driver has a history of bad behavior, but since no mention of such conduct was madein the article, I do not know.

I don't like Bush, but that was a stupid and rude act.

Oh, I hate Bush, but ruining this country has taken the combined effort of a LOT of people, not just him.

On topic: Firing was harsh, but a reprimand would have been OK.

You may live in China but I don't.

You don't HAVE to leave political views at home, but obnoxious politically charged behavior will only cause petty arguement that decrease effeciency. It would be pointless and stupid. Comparing personal restraint of views for the purpose of creating a generally amiable atmosphere to a opressive goverment and society is too much of a stretch.

Are you really that stupid? Do you really think anyone should be able to do or say anything they want at any time? I can't grasp anyone not understanding what the issue is. Are you so filled with hate that you can't see the problem?
I really don't know if I should just dismiss you as a fool, or pity you as a person so damaged and blind that you can no longer reason.
