Burglar in house, you have gun locked and loaded

  • immediately shoot. 1 in the head, 2 in the chest. no questions asked

  • immediately shoot, but not to kill

  • anounce that you have gun and ask burglar to leave first

  • curl up like a bitch, hand over wife/gf, kids, and jewelry

Oh and the OP talked about a burglar (single) and you are proposing some sort of zergling rush of 2~3 burglars. You must really be frightened all the time.

That's a pretty idiotic statement. In a real life scenario, you don't know how many burglars are in your house; all you hear is some noise. You go down to investigate and you see a shadow.

There's not an HP bar over the burglar's head or special music letting you know this is the last boss. The OP didn't specifically state that one and only one burglar was in your house as there is no way you can be sure of that fact while the burglary is still in progress.

Also 2-3 burglars is NOT that uncommon. It's no secret that criminals often times work in crews.

I'm the opposite. I'm much more afraid of a crazy guy with a very high powered hunting rifle and access to a high place then I am of a guy with a full auto machine gun. Ammo is heavy and full auto is very hard to be accurate with.

Even with the full auto 9mm I fired it was hard to stay on target and I was out of ammo in about 15 seconds. I'd let anyone with the money own a full auto. Crazies already have much better legal ways of killing us.

I voted #1 because it's the closest to what i would do.but you guys aren't taking muzzle flash into consideration here,in the dark your going to be blind for a few seconds after you shoot you may only get 1 shot and you better make it count.

I just came to a realization last night. I am not even sure when I started this or where/how I learned it.

I was walking into the bathroom in our master bedroom. The door to the bath was mostly closed. As I pushed it open, I realized that I was subconsciously placing my hand in such a position that if someone was behind the door and shoved it back that I wouldn't injure my fingers.
Weird. I have never been burgled.

But I do other stuff. If my wife and I are out and someone walks up to us or near us, I place myself between the person and my wife till I know their intentions. I've never been mugged. If we are walking near traffic, I always place myself between her and the traffic. I have been hit by a car while riding a bike.

I look for exits in buildings and I count seats to exits on a plane. Never been in a fire or a plane crash.

There is more....
I guess i would qualify as paranoid according to some of you.

Obvious answer: Olds is a Russian sleeper agent. All we need to do is keep typing random phrases in threads that he reads until we come across his activation code. Then god help us all.

I'm single, never been mugged, yet I still always open the door to public bathrooms all the way before entering. Started off as paranoia, now I just do it out of habit (unless I'm in a really shady area or something). *shrug*

I do similar things. I also look for exits from restaurants in case of a crazed gunman attack.

Hyper-vigilance and beng prepared like a Boy Scout probably never got anyone hurt.

Nah, that's called being aware of what's going on around you. My wife, our son, and I were in Maui a few years ago and we went out to dinner at this out of the way place in Lahaina, it was light when we went there but when we came out it was dark and our car was parked at the back of a dimly lit parking lot. As we got closer to the lot I started to feel a little uneasy about the whole situation and I noticed two seedy looking dudes just kind of milling about nearby. I had my wife and son wait in a well lit public area while I hustled to the car to avoid giving these guys any chance of approaching me.

I have little doubt that those guys were looking for some tourists to roll.
