I RMA's the motherboard on my second burbie--wouldn't boot at all --usps delivery confirmed as last Wednesday, but I have not heard anything yet as to shipping a replacement -- maaybe I just needed a new cmos battery?? That may be the one thing I didn't try. btw -- the prices for the usb keyboard are hot wheels flaming hot.

Give it a shot - it worked for me!!

I setup a Burbie system for Xmas, and it worked fine for a few days.

Then it died.

Thanks to an earlier post on this thread, I tried swapping out the battery, and it came back to life!

:D

It's a standard battery that should be available at any local Radio Shack. (#CR2032)

I just noticed some auctions on ebay for puters with the bp810 mainboard. They are being sold with 766 celeron chip. I emailed the question:

how did you get this board to take a 766 cleron processor? The
doccumentation from Intel says that a 533 ppga celeron is tops. Is there a
bios update that enables the BP810 board to safely use lower voltage fcpga
celeron processors???

answer was:

Actually, there is an actual modification you can make on the board that
allows the higher processor. We were given this info by Intel themselves.

Anybody know how to do this??

that peaked my interest so I went and found This page which describes exactly what we'd want to do. I may have to keep this page for future reference, as I probably won't do it anytime soon.

thanks shippy. I'm not sure the burbie mainboard supports the lower voltages that are necessary for this particular mod to work.

I built one of these about a month and a half ago (a little black and maroon paint does wonders) and it makes a great little web surfer/office computer. The only CPU I had laying around was a FC-PGA Celeron II @ 566. I tossed it in with a stock AMD Duron heatsink and a small fan and it works great. The MB accepted the CPU and had no problems. I guess it worked because nobody told me it was impossible. Now, the CPU MAY be running at 2v instead of 1.5 (Intel rates a FC-PGA up to 2.1v) and running at 566 it may not be generating too much heat. A higher rated CPU may need more aggressive cooling. If anyone else has tried a FC-PGA chip in this system let me know.

I tried it and the chip is fried -- maybe your 566 is a 1.7 volt rather than a 1.5 volt spec. The fried chip was 1.5 volt number ending in sl46t. I have a 566 1.7 volt number ending in sl4pc that I'm not will to risk frying at this point. btw, i posed the fcpga in the motehrboard forum and someone suggested this product:

neo I don't know whether the bp810 is compatible.

<< I tried it and the chip is fried >>

Did you try the motherboard modification or just installing the chip without the modification?

shippy: I have not tried the board mods or voltage adapters yet. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone with experience in these matters.

what is a voltage adapter you are talking about (power leep?)
if so I have one of these powerleap thingies.. (I think 40 dollars from powerleap)
I have it on my tekram mobo that is also a 810 chipset that only takes ppga..
and it works fine

okay tomarrow I will try the powerleap with PIII 700 flippy on the burbie. I don't see why it will not work since it works on my tekram 810 mobo but I guess the probability of not working is not equal to zero so I will tell you guys tomarrow how it works out...

true, but it makes it easier to upgrade with a fcpga 66fsb celeron. Thanks for the info. I think the powerleap is $25 plus shipping from the manufacturer.

Packages2you tech support emailed me that they have my board and they think it is probably the cmos battery. In fact they said they have a lot of boards to check and they are waiting on a shipment of batteries.:Q They offered to send it back if it tests good or gave me the option of waiting for their shipment of batteries.:frown: I should have checked the battery before I RMA's the board.
