This is just ridiculous. I can make my own ammunition. Serializing ammo would just drive the costs through the roof and price firearms further out of the reach of those who need them the most (the poor.) Gun control is an elitist policy. Liberals don't care that I own machine guns, because I paid tens of thousands of dollars for them, so I must be an ok guy.

For this to work, you would not be permitted to use your homemade Ammunition. Possible exception being for Target Shooting.

LMAO. You're only allowed to use homemade ammunition for target shooting, but if you're going to commit a crime and shoot someone, then you have to use the serialized ammunition.

Yep. Criminals always listen about using the right ammunition when committing a crime.

Crime is committed with Unmarked bullet, another Charge is added.

Are you serious? That's not any kind of deterrant.

Good point! I bet criminals will quake in fear at the thought of an "unmarked bullet" charge being added on to "murder one"!

It may or may not be a detterent, but it makes Criminal activities more costly nonetheless. Many Crimes involving Guns are not perpetuated by Career Criminals. Those Crimes will become much easier to solve.

Yeah, nothing $20 and a stove can't fix.

Or for $10 just get that and pull the serialized bullet out, scratch it off, and put it back in.

Yeah, this will make a huge market for criminals to earn yet more easy money with.

Personally: I think this is a good thing.

"Manufacturers of ammunition cannot serialize ammo as it would force a slowdown in the production process"

The manufacturers would overcome this.

That said, how is this invasion of privacy any different than data mining my telephone calls?

First, by 'you' I don't mean you personally...I mean those who would take such action.

We all most likely would make our own...look, the bottom line is citizens aren't surrendering their ability to have weapons. If you ban it outright, we'll take arms against you. If you restrict it too far, we'll take arms against you. If you drive up ammo prices we'll make our own, and if you come to stop us we'll take arms against you. People have two, and ONLY TWO, choices:

Accept that we citizens WILL carry weapons
Pick up a weapon of your own and try to stop us

That's it, there is NOTHING else.

Since the penalty is already death (or at least life in prison) that means what exactly?

I'm against gun control, I'm also against drug control, nuclear control, alcohol control, mind control, or information control.

You can't have it both ways, you social conservative assholes. It's either freedom, or fascism with varying degrees of control. You all bitch about gun control, but then cheer on other forms of social constraints. You're just as bad, or worse than "gun-grabbers". Suck it.

"Liberals" in the US are also against drugs, nukes, alcohol and freedom of information. They're every bit as bad when it comes to freedom. Suck it.

No, those are not liberals, they're socially conservative democrats, or social conservatives who are lying to you and/or themselves because they want to appear to be freedom loving.

Don't try to fucking group true social permissive types with a political category, it's insulting to my intelligence, and it's incorrect. If they're for any kind of social control, they're not socially liberal, it's as simple as that. There is no "but but but, they call themselves liberals", it doesn't work like that. If I call myself a doctor, it doesn't make me a fucking doctor. Going through the motions, getting my doctorate, and healing people makes a doctor.

This reminds me of a guy at a local US representative's "town-hall meeting" that continuously asked him why he was running as a Democrat when he did not vote 100% along party lines and that by not doing so clearly made him not a Democrat.

We're not talking about something as stupid and petty as political parties here, we're talking about people who want to have some measure of control over how others live their lives, even when their victims weren't harming anyone.

So we should still call people who only want to be a "little" controlling "socially permissive"? That's a failure to use a term correctly. It's not unfair to belittle those who would enjoy taking away the rights of others to make themselves feel better by calling them diet-fascists. That's exactly what they are, after all.

Some issues ARE black and white. You either want to control other peoples lives based on your own personal world-view, or you want to leave them alone. Anything "in-between" is merely the former.

Sounds like a really bad idea to me. The ability to go pick up a box of ammo for $20 or so and go practice at the range is very nice. If I have to pay $100-200 a box I will be much less likely to do so. Besides the thinly-veiled attempt to enforce gun control and take away rights, making bullets prohibitively expensive will decrease gun owners ability to go practice using their firearm. I much prefer gun-toting citizens who know how to use their firearms to the gun-owner whose only experience is watching Dirty Harry.

I think on top of the murder charge the few extra months would be useless.

Oh, and I don't buy the whole "too expensive" argument. I've seen numbers laser etched into apples. They can make it affordable if they want to. Just another step in bullet going down the assembly line.

Nothing Guarantees your freedom more than the common man having firearms. I love though how the government is making "lists" of people.

you are wasting your time

ANY suggestion EVER made on this forum to even remotely slow or reduce the availability of any gun or ammo to any American is met with nothing but "great, criminals will still have all of their guns/ammo, common citizens get screwed" - despite any points made to the contrary - our drug laws, or laws, our police, etc, etc, etc - it's all their fault, it's not the fact that just about any schmuck can buy a gun and sell it to whomever he pleases.

Meanwhile, another 25-50 people were killed this weekend across the country at the hands of a gun - but it's no big deal, put your heads back in the sand

Sorry Moonie, but city folks are far more murderous.

There's the facts. You and your fellow city-folk are far more dangerous to be around than Cletus and his redneck kin.

Jesus, where did I say otherwise? The virus hasn't hit yet.
