If true, not looking too promising for them. The mobo makers all seem to have high end boards ready to go so i was really expecting to see BD in June-July. Kinda strange dont you guys think?

Why wouldn't M/B makers have mother boards its the 8 chipset rebranded as 9

Believe it or not I wanted to see the release in june. But at the same time it does my heart good to see flank and informal get educated on the FACTs of life. They are like so many sheep who follow a wolf in shepards clothing . Another guy I wanted to see get burned has toned down over the last month he will remain nameless because I kinda like the guy . But so many bought into his hype and I am not talking about JF .

Ananda is reporting a 1 month delay

http://twitter.com/#!/anandshimpi/status/74973660389183488

I find this odd . I really doubt AMD planned a 2nd qt release even tho I read the offical statement saying so . I suspect it was a ploy to stop SB sales . If its released in july . Ya OK I believe them If its later no way . AMD is good at this . I remember the hammer delays . I doubt IB is delayed that was probably a rumor and photoshop work done a AMD fan troll. At any rate I won my debate with JF

Wow... now you're going to say that may be AMD corrupted all SATA2 ports on SB mobo's, are you? Or, may be you're just a little paranoid?

It was known in 2H 2010, that the desktop parts would be launched in H1 2011, which JF also confirmed in as many words. Server parts are to be launched in Q3 (H2) 2011 which is a whole different thing. There's a whole month to go... Stop spreading FUD.

According to Anand in one of his recent articles, BD is delayed until late July as AMD has to spin a B2 stepping.

Per Tom's Hardware:

The bad news is that those Bulldozer-based chips are still not ready. Processors based on the B0 stepping are in the hands of motherboard manufacturers. But they’re all telling me that performance is nowhere near what they were expecting, and it’ll take another stepping to fix them.

What a surprise...lol.

I'm more interested in Llano anyway. Could make for a good/cheap gaming rig, especially if it can do Hybrid Crossfire.

Rumors are all we have. The agreement suggests yields aren't that great. Rumor suggests there has been some breakthrough at GF, and that while this agreement will save AMD money this year, will cost them next. My hunch is that yields are not great but ok, which would be expected since this is a new process...

I don't know which thread you are talking about, but I asked him point-blank (sorry, JFAMD) on SA, and he said "we don't comment on rumors" which is neither a confirmation or a dismissal. If it was true, chances are he wouldn't be able to comment anyway. Hell, he probably isn't supposed to comment even if it isn't true

JFAMD is in the server side, which has always targeted Q3 as their launch timeframe, anyway. He will certainly be more concerned if his side gets delayed to Q4 or even 1H 2012, however.

So there's now little question that there is a delay... But the quite worrisome question of why remains. All the more that's been reported is that performance with the current stepping "doesn't look good"/"is nowhere near what they were expecting." Further, while both articles state that it's going to take a stepping to fix those issues, neither say that the stepping has actually fixed the issue. Hopefully that just means that they don't have silicon back yet. Which would put the best case at it getting fixed and merely having limited supply at launch... while worst case would be that it doesn't fix the issue. The fact that there's not even a hint being given of what's wrong certainly doesn't instill much confidence.

"AMD originally wanted to launch Bulldozer at Computex but performance issues with its B0 and B1 stepping chips pushed back the launch. Now we're looking at a late July launch with B2 silicon, but performance today is a big unknown. Apparently the performance of B1 stepping silicon doesn't look too good." Front page article.

Better broken than slow, I guess.

Has amd ever released anything on time?

This BS used to be industry-wide. Intel figured it out and the gpu guys kind of got it together, but amd has never been too good about this.

Anyway, better a delay like hammer than a broken chip like agena.

@ post 40 Ya it put Intel on notice, But look what it pushed intel to do . Intel is really setting a blazing pace . If they continue at this pace tp 10nm . Its makes one feel dizzy.

Unfortunately, this looks to be more about "the cpu sucks" than "we can't make enough of them". I hope I'm wrong b/c I really want 8 cores this year, but anytime in the past when we've seen major delays like this the end product has disappointed. And I don't just include this little one or two month delay right now, but rather the whole past 18 months of what could/should have been BD's prime earning time. Even going up against SB will be quite difficult for BD, but now they're creeping towards SB-E with IB just around the corner...I have a feeling that we long-time AMD loyalists are in for more dark days ahead.

While it all sounds like doom and gloom , at least its a drop in for the am3 socket.

So not all is lost its a cheap upgrade but i am disappointed thus far i was looking for a replacement for my i7 950.

But this could all be nothing but bs too.

On the CPU side? Maybe back in the AthlonXP days. AMD is chronically late on processors, so I will not be the least bit surprised if Bulldozer gets pushed back a few months. I don't see this as that big a deal IF the performance is spectacular. If it flops, expect this to be AMD's last attempt at a high end CPU.

Okey amd lost the enthustiac area but it also lost the area amd was good at the low end.
left it for intel atom to make a market and a profit with that overpriced cpu. (for the perfomanse)
and now more delay?!?!?!?
so lets see amd had 2 options
1)release a cpu that could not beat sb
2)delay and have a cpu than beats sb when intel has ib

so really amd tactic is too loose
and aparently loose with no product in market. how long amd feels it will sell phenomII?!!??! and frankly all this release and no actuall release hurt their small sales.
i canseled my order buying a phenom II 1100T cause i thought bf was coming
THANKS AMD FOR MAKING INTEL SO GOOD COMPANY

I smell a dog coming up.

Perhaps they'll include a free copy of Duke Nukem Forever with every CPu sold?

Where do you come up with the $1 million figure ?

It's just a number I threw out there. NV threw $2 million for Crytek to optimize Crysis 2. My point was that AMD doesn't seem to work together with developers to make sure that their CPU runs faster in games.
