How do they know it only killed one person? And, if there was someone under there, how do they know he didn't manage to line up with a window just right and isn't inside someplace?

I'm surprise that it doesn't happen more often due to corrupts government officials and corrupts business practice.

I'm sure that they are going to blame the engineers and surveyors for this while knowingly applies to government officials to have more floors added onto the building after the surveying and footing have completed. And, poor construction materials could also be a factor.

Never saw a building fall over like that and be intact. Weird.

Looking at the other pics, I think the retaining wall scenario makes the most sense. The ground looks really wet.

Now that's what I call a ballsy stunt!

Didn't they recreate that stunt on Time Warp or Mythbusters or something? I remember seeing it recently but can't say which show exactly.

I bet my money on shoddy materials.."Yang, why bother use 100% cement and thick steel bars, 70% and 1/2 size steel bars will do"..the big cheese took the money. Remember the earthquake and all the recent build buildings collapse a few months ago in China?

When I was in Saigon, South Vietnam, there was a bridge about half way done and just collapse for no reason.

Yep. I would not trust any new Chinese construction, or even old for that matter.

It's like that problem they had in the US a few years ago where some drywall actually came from china and it caused cancer or something, I forget. Think it had abestos in it.

that's some skilled construction for it to topple completely intact

edit: I wonder what the residents are thinking in the remaining 2 standing complexes =D
