If I had an apartment in one of the other buildings I would move out ASAP.

China is synonymous with quality craftsmanship, I don't understand this at all.

The important thing is that China's buildings will stay completely intact after toppling over. Can you say that about your own house...

Their geo survey team failed. Fear not, they've been dragged to the shooting range for execution.

I wonder how the people living in the 2 identically constructed buildings behind that one feel right now.

Absolutely insane drive to expand/develop/rise up + government bureaucracy that does little but drive this urge with few breaks = amazingly impressive growth and a lot of shoddy workmanship / corner cutting. China's a society going through something like the industrial revolution we went through at the turn of the century (there were few rules then and lots of accidents too) only on the scale of a billion people with cell phones.

The Chinese are a shining example of trying to get somewhere the quick way without building the proper foundation.

Looks like the Chinese accidentally bought some of their own products.

Meanwhile, the cause of the accident is under investigation and nine unidentified people from the developer, contractor and management company have been detained.

In China they arrest people responsible for fraud, in the USA we give them bonuses.

If you look at the link for closer shots it's amazing...no real foundation. I'm no engineer but building a apt complex doesn't seem possible to pull off without a real foundation...

Actually, in China they are killed by the state.

Or at least someone is killed by the state. One hopes they are at least the guilty party but one never knows. For example in huge scandal cases like the tainted baby milk case where the public was screaming for justice you can be sure SOMEONE's head would role (literally) whether they could find the real culprits or not.

Hmm, I would say good engineering, bad craftsmanship. Built to last, even on its back.
