a 12pk is 9.99 so $.84 a beer
a 15pk is 10.99 so $.74 a beer
a 24pk is 16.99 so $.71 a beer

those 3 beers give you one of the best deals around for non uberuber cheap beer

and here I sound like a broken record...
simpler_times.jpg

6 pack = $2.99

so...

12 = $5.98 = 0.49 per beer
18 = $8.97 = 0.49 per beer
24 = $11.96 = 0.49 per beer

(afaik, they don't sell in more than 6 packs. maybe they do?)

also, at 6.2% ABV (vs 5.0% with Bud), you're not only saving between 0.22-0.35 but gaining 1.2% of alcohol consumption per beer.

Really there is no other choice but making Trader Joe's your one-stop shop for cheap and shitty alcohol consumption.

because shitty beer is still shitty beer whether it's a 6-pack, 12-pack, 15-pack or 24-pack.

and i only buy shitty beer to drink enough to not remember drinking the shitty beer... i did have a selection of fine micro brews, but monetary situations have stopped those...

dogfishhead punkin ale, heavy seas, dogfishhead 120min ipa, stone vert. epic...

how bout an 18-pack... good to go?

Yeah, 18-packs exist in a reality vortex where shitty beer is actually good. The greatest theoretical physicists in the world are trying to figure out why, but they get drunk every day and are making slow progress.

I'm against all non standard measurements. Beer should be single-6-12-18-24. Coffee should come by the pound and 1/2 pound... Companies use non standard amounts for deceptive purposes, and to make it harder to do a direct comparison of products.

In the case of beer, it's an anti-competitive process in which the brewery pretty much guarantee's it gets 100 feet of shelf space by having 50 different ways to package their product. They create the illusion of variety, all while minimizing space left over for smaller brewery operations.

If want to get drunk on the cheap I buy cheap whiskey and coca-cola. That way I avoid having to taste something a little too like horse piss.

One of the few nice things I've found in texas is the large number of local microbrews with shelfspace at the supermarket. They're usually cheaper than the national micros and foreign brands.

I understand the reason cheap alcohol, I just don't think beer is a price effective or tasty delivery method.

The premise of the OP was that AB has a great idea selling beer in a 15pack. What's wrong with an 18pack, or case? It sounds like he's bargain shopping for beer. Me? I buy what I'm in the mood for, and that's never light anything :^D

The main thing I'm bitching about, is the manufacturers dick with the sizes so people just say fuck it, and buy what LOOKS like the best deal, but may not be. I bet the 15 pack looks a hell of a lot like other company's 18 packs. The lazy, and less bright may look at the slightly cheaper price, and think they're getting an awesome deal, because they think they're getting 18 beers. As always, caveat emptor, but to knowingly try to rip off your user base though deception, and visual manipulation is highly distasteful.

it may look like the 18 pack, but it's still $3 or so cheaper than the 18 pack.

Lately ive found less and less of a place in my life for beers like this (well my choice is coors, but i consider it in the same league as bud). If i have money, I'd rather have a $10 sixer of dead guy than a $10 twelver of bud. If im broke, a 6 dollar 12 pk of high life tastes almost as good as the bud and is about half the price.

I now consider them "river only" beers.

Can you do that in your head, in a reasonable time frame while standing in the liquor store? How about a 6 pack of Guinness draught bottles? Those are 10.xOz per bottle. How does that compare to their cans which are 15.xOz per can, and how do they compare with a normal 12 or 16oz container?

Simple, I just look at the unit pricing on the edge of the shelf the beer is on. What? You don't have unit pricing in your state to help protect/inform the consumer? Bummer.

Not in liquor stores usually. Only the hugest liquor warehouse type places have anything like that, and it's not sold in groceries here.

honestly, what a great idea... you can have 2 nights of meh i had a few, or one night of "yea, i drank a good amount" and they are $1 more than a 12 pk, honestly... why would you not get a 15pk for yourself?

I bought a 12 pack at Albertson's today for $6.49 :)
