There's no reason they can't be recycled. Styrofoam is the main offender there. Again, practically harmless, even when it ends-up in nature.
If certain thermoplastics aren't accepted for recycling, the solution isn't to ban plastics. The solution is to start recycling those kinds of plastics too.
EVEN IF HUMANITY RECYCLED NO PLASTIC AT ALL AND DUMPED EVERY BIT INTO LANDFILLS, that should be just fine.
Plastic is miracle stuff and single-use disposable packaging has absolutely saved countless lives.
