Some are sicker than others but it doesn't matter in this case. I'm not impressed by his methods of violence or disgusted by his actions, just angry that he wasn't sentenced/convicted earlier.

I can't think of a fitting punishment for him. I mean he is already 60, so it isn't like you can take away his golden years. Killing him would just be a quick escape for someone who took pleasure in torturing so many people. He requires something worse. I just don't know what that something is.

With this case closely matching the Dahmer horror in public outrage, I would not be the least surprised to see Rader being segregated from the general prison populace simply because he is a marked man in jail. Dahmer's killing was not the least bit surprising, and in this politically correct day and age, the judicial system may take special measures to keep him alive (even though he does not deserve to live). The Dateline show kept me glued to the TV, and one thing not resolved yet is any discussion or mention of his family, other than his wife divorcing him and his children disowning him.

Funny thing that a freakin' floppy led to his capture.

Rader: Sooo, if I send you a floppy with some taunts directed at the police, you guys can't track that ??
Police: Ohh No, thats not possible at all, nooo wayyyy .... <Nelson from the Simpsons in the background: Haa Haa !!!>

This guy was obviously psychotic... the worst part about this law is that the people of Kansas will need to pay taxes so he lives a comfortable life in prison. :(

I always hear that the death penalty costs the state more than simply housing and feeding the prisoner for life.

Why not just take him out back and shoot him in the head? Costs the price of a bullet...

Because this is America, and EVERYONE has rights! It would be inhumane to do that, don't ya know?! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!

The horrors of what this inbred did are disguesting.. I can't imagine how any human being could get off on these types of actions. This guy deserves death, I hope he gets it in prison.

Not for the faint of heart

He's obviously sick in the head. There were far worse serial killers than him. Dalmer for example.

Why are people always saying someone deserves to die, sparing them from the torment of life, when they are outraged?

We all deserve to die.

At this point, it's not about whats cheaper. It is about the retribution that the law should require when an individual takes anothers life in this manner.

Oh look, more blatant examples of what is wrong with the legal system:

Judge Gregory Waller is to decide if Rader will serve his 10 life sentences concurrently or consecutively.

I can feel my tax dollars getting sucked into a hole to figure that one out :(

They have the whole transcript of the interview cops did on thesmokingun. He is obviously a total psychopath with no regard for human life. He has no concept of right or wrong and talks about what he did like normal people would describe a trip to the grocery store.

Did the Dateline special go into detail about the floppy and how they "traced" it to the church computer?

"Investigators said Rader told them he would use a squeeze ball as exercise to build up his hand strength in preparation for stranglings, that he typically masturbated after killings, and that he took underwear from female victims and wore them."

SOmehow i don't think that's making the next squeeze-ball ad campaign

It says the prosecutors are pressing for him to serve his life sentences in series instead of concurrently. Would it really make a difference since he is already ~60? It seems like even 1 life sentence would guarantee he would be put away for life.

One life sentence might not do the trick. He can act like a nice guy and would therefore get some time reduced from his sentence over time. Also keep in mind that life means 20 years sometimes, so take 20 minus a few years for good behavior and he could be out at around 75. Now that's a worst case scenario, but I would bet he's still capable of the same sick sh!t at 75. Maybe he won't be as strong physically, but that just means he would need to resort to weapons more that than he did in the past.

How often do people get killed in prison for that type of crime?

Either way, he'll die in prison. Hopefully another inmate will do the deed, but whatever works.

everyone always says that "oh in prison, blah blah blah" You have no clue what will happen. How often do you actually hear about any of these guys getting killed in prison? Ya, that's what I thought.

I don't believe Death Row inmates get into circulation with other inmates, thus noone will get the opportunity to get him in prison.

Can someone explain the difference? How can you serve more than one "life sentence"?

He won't be on death row. The death penalty wasn't legal in Kansas during the time he committed his crimes.

Ah, good point. Then it indeed looks like he will meet his fate a broom handle.
