I would say offense if you want more resources quickly, but defense if you don't wana risk losing your resources

Well, look at your galaxy and see how many inactive players you have around you. (i) denotes a player who has been inactive for 7+ days and (I) denotes a player who has been inactive for 28+ days. If you have a few of them, I'd recommend to build offense. You can raid them and get their resources as much as you want, then build your defenses later on :)

well, V means vacation, and you cannot attack players in vacation mode... so i think you should build some defenses first as they'll be raiding you once you're out of noob protection :)

Trade, maybe even coordinate an attack... but it's more or less just for the name. People not in an alliance are usually attacked first.

Well, before I attack someone, I checkup their alliance. If its a strong alliance or if he has too many allies around us, I think twice about attacking. But if someone is not in an alliance or is in a crappy one, or doesn't have any allies within respond range, I just attack :)

one of my fellow galaxy inhabitants is Merak (i b I v) What the hell do all of those mean? lol i guess inactive, and vacation, but the others?

I second the what is (s) request aswell.

i'l post a link to a screenshot of my galaxy, 5 uninhabited planets! but there's a guy from IPfH, who're ranked 2. and a guy from tukeyim or woteva, who're ranked 3. so they're pretty much off limits lol.

Also, the different colours? if the name is in red or blue? is that relevant?does the name being in white mean they have n00b protection maybe?

you cannot, you can attack them often and get them to quit the game and later will get theirs deleted and you can build a colony there :) but no, you cannot take over one's planet when they're an active player.

(s): strong = you cannot attack this player, cause he has 5x more points than you do. basically, you'll get owned.

(w): weak = you cannot attack this player, cause he has 5x less points than you do. it'll be a massacre.

(v): vacation = you cannot attack this player because he is on vacation. you too can get on vacation mode by enabling vacation mode from the options menu. be aware however, that you cannot deactivate vacation mode for 48 days. during vacation mode, you cannot attack anyone as well as get attacked, but you also cannot produce anything (buildings, ships, defense, research). you cannot put vacation mode on 1. you are being attacked at the moment, 2. you are attacking someone, 3. you have an active fleet, 4. you have an active research, 5. you have active production (building, ships, or defense).

(i): inactive for 7+ days (raid him)

(I): inactive for 28+ days (raid him)

(b): banned user

when the player name is in red: noob protection (you are the one being protected), he is too strong for you.
"""""""""""""""""""""""""""" in green: noob protection, he is too weak.
"""""""""""""""""""""""""""" in blue: vacation mode
"""""""""""""""""""""""""""" in white: he is active and you can attack him, no noob protection.

don't be... they cannot attack you. and even when you increase your points, they probably will as well so there always be a gap between you and them unless they are stupid. just look at other galaxies and you'll find people to attack :p
