Brought home a CTS-V Coupe

After trading in the M3 I have been carefully considering what my next toy was going to be and I came across a solid deal on this CTS-V this weekend and picked it up yesterday.

I was originally planning on a new Corvette but I overspent a bit on some other things, so this will have to do for now. Already ordering a new pulley setup and HX, debating a new exhaust as well.

The only thing I don't like is the piano black stuff in the interior, probably going to pull it out and vinyl wrap it in satin black or brushed aluminum.

Those are secksy!

Are the New Era Performance intakes still popular on these cars? When I was working there, we sold a ton of them...

They sure seem to be. I will probably do the Weapon X Stage 1 which comes with the New Era intake.

Nice car!

BTW, what did you use to take picture of the car with? A potato? 😛

Heh, sorry. Running a nightly ROM that doesn't get along with my camera 100%

I will take some better pictures after her first detail, the day I picked her up it was raining.

NICE! Congrats, looks like fun.

How do like it compared to the M3?

It's just more fun. Don't get me wrong, the M3 was a nice car, but this pushes all of the right buttons.

The only thing wrong with it is that it doesn't have effing bluetooth because at the time they were trying to shove OnStar down everyone's throat. I found a company that makes a module that replaces OnStar with Bluetooth but they haven't updated their page/twitter in 3 years so I'm hoping for an email back.

Should have bluetooth in the '11 forward cars. Mine did.

The manual said the way to pair was to do the voice thing, say "Bluetooth", and then say "pair". Mine never picked up the word Bluetooth and when I was given a menu of available keywords, Bluetooth wasn't on the list. The steering wheel has the buttons to pick up/hang up a phone call.

Any other suggestions?

Edit: Looks like you have to start with Hands Free, then Bluetooth, then Pair. They couldn't do this through the big screen in the middle of the car?

OP - the car looks GREAT!

If you get a chance, would love to see the interior too. Wow, sexy car. 😀

Yep. If you do Hands Free --> Bluetooth --> Speech you should be able to pass commands to Siri or Google Now.

BTW, you may want to skip exhaust and do LT headers. That made a noticeable difference with sound without sounding like a funny car.

Thanks for the tips. I appreciate it!

Like the looks of that car. Mean without looking cheapy, which can happen with the murdered out look.

So the weather finally shows minimal chances of rain for the next week, will probably get it washed today and take some pictures for everyone later.

Some notes about the car after 2 weeks of driving:
  • It is a major head turner, I figured they have been around long enough to where that would not be the case, I was wrong.
  • It has a mild drone on the highway. I haven't decided if it is an issue or not. Not sure what I would do even if it was.
  • The sound system is better than I expected from a Bose system. Doesn't need much help anywhere in the range.
  • The steering feel is on point. Once the assist goes down at speed it is the perfect kind of heavy and I can feel just the right amount of feedback. I thought I may be crazy for thinking it reminded me of a Porsche, but some reviews seem to echo this sentiment.
  • It sucks down gas. I'm averaging 14.6 and with a relatively small tank I feel like I am stopping all the time. 18-20 is possible on the highway, but if you step on the gas once forget about it.
  • This car is too far past the limits of the road to push, especially on PS2s. Booking a track day to find out where the edges actually are.
