No thanks. As long as the Bills can put together an O-line that doesn't look like a bunch of toothpicks in a tornado, Edwards is a kickass QB. In the games where he actually had decent protection (or against a fairly week D-line), his rating was FAR higher than Cutler's. Unfortunately with the patchwork quilt they've had as the O-line the last several years, it's not much of a wonder they've sucked.

---

As an aside, looks like Vick might actually be able to get his $10m/year that he thinks he's worth now. Looks like there's going to be an opening in a team stupid enough to sign him soon...

I agree about the line but ever since Edwards got his brain scrambled against the Cardinals he has been pretty much useless.

why so many fans believe he is great is mind numbing, he gets injured too often, is indecisive with the ball..yes, he has been serviceable, and won a couple of close games against mediocre teams but thats it.

personally I think fans like him so much because they hate Losman, but he wont have that benefit this year

Like I said, if the O-line does it's job and he actually has confidence in them, he IS amazing. I've seen plenty of series last season where he came out and literally picked the defense apart throw after throw, pulling 8 or 9 completions together. Against teams where the O-line leaks like a sieve putting pass rush in his face play after play, that's when he starts to try to find completions too quickly and makes mistakes - just like any QB does. If the O-line did it's job, we wouldn't have to worry so much about injuries either.

I think the only thing that Cutler would be able to do in the same situation is scramble. Yeah, it could buy a little time, but in the end the game will still be a loss without an O-line.

please...he would consistently check down to Marshawn in those 8 or 9 completions..

dont get me wrong I hope he works out but way too many people have rose-colored glasses on when it comes to Edwards.

either way this is his make or break year.

I would take Cutler in a heartbeat.

We'll give you TJax for Edwards... (please take the deal, please take the deal...)

McD already boned your team once, who knows if he'll do it again. The team should have just canned him instead of dealing Cutler IMO.

If you can figure out what the Lions are going to do then  to you.

My guess is the Lions are going with Culpepper and are going to draft defense with the first pick.

Same here. A defensive player is a much better decision than Matt Stafford. The Lions would be taking a huge risk by drafting him #1.

from what I hear Ralphie would be the one to lobby this...I guess he was extremely high on Cutler prior to the 2006 draft.

All I know is it better be playoffs this year, especially after retaining DJ.

I wonder if it's possible to get into the playoffs with a 7-9 record. Cause that's what Juaron is likely going to have... again.

They won't because Brad Childress is incompetent and prefers having only bad or mediocre quarterbacks.

While I think AstroMan is right about Chilly, I would love to see Jay in Purple. The vi-queens could actually be a good team with Cutler under center.

We're a relatively good team with shitty QBs. If we got at least a decent QB we could possibly go the distance. It seems the only spot we are seriously lacking in.

Well, my initial guess was that the Lions would draft a WR. I am merely repeating what I've been hearing from various news outlets - and that they were impressed with Stafford after Tuesday's performance.

Either way, I don't think Cutler will be a Lion next season.

We have a pretty brutal schedule this year too.. that will be his justification for a "good 7-9" season :disgust:

Completely agree. Would be great to see Cutler in purple. I don't think he's amazing, but he is a massive upgade over anything else we have right now.

this idiot needs a major reality check bounce.

If he is dressed and on the bench he gets paid. The team can't force him not to not dress for the games.

Broncos took a (DUMB ASS) gamble and lost. Now they are going to pay.

They have gone from playoff contender to probably bottom of their division. Their offense was good last year and their D sucked. Now they are even again (both will likely suck).

I think Cutler will land up with the Jets.

Pat Bowlen, the owner, is probably wondering why he ever got rid of Mike Shanahan. The team morale is not good, the jury is still out on Chris Simms, and Josh McDaniels looks like a boy playing a man's game.

McDaniels made a total ass of himself with the Cassel fiasco. Now it looks like the Broncos are going to have to rebuild their defense and their offense.

Jets and Bucs need a QB BAD so my money would be on one of them. Detroit will just draft Stafford and Cleveland will make a man out of Quinn.

The Lions co-GMs Lewand and Mayhew have decided to use as much mis-direction and skulduggery as the rules allow. Maybe, they've finally figured out this is one big poker game and the worst thing to do is to show your hand. This is a good thing when you're 0-16.

They have everything to gain and nothing to lose if they make the world think they are taking Stafford.

Its interesting, as a die hard Broncos fan with season tickets, to get a more national perspective on this issue.

That being said, and this is coming from someone who was also on Jay's side through most of this - if he gets traded, I have faith that its the right descision. McDaniels was brought here for a reason, our defense was the issue and we brought in an offensive coach with a major in Quarterbacks. Bowlen did this because he knew Cutler had to be developed, and frankly McDee has pretty much proven he is good at what he does. He started with the Patriots as a QB coach, taking a 7th round draft pick with smarts in Tom Brady and making him the best QB in the league, and arguably one of the best in history. He took an undrafted player who never played a down since HS and made him look incredibly good last year. Was Cassel a fluke? Maybe. Only time will tell.

Personally I think this whole thing was orchastrated on two fronts, one by Bus Cook (Cutlers agent) for more money - and on the other side by Bowlen and McDee to disperse of the cancer on the Broncos team. I'm still not sure that Cutler is the cancer, but if the HC and owner believe it I have to side with them - and have faith in what they are doing.

There is no doubting Cutler's skills and natural ability - but ability alone doesn't win games, lead teams or keep the drama out of your city. Vick had all the talent in the world according to everyone and even when it was obvious he could only run, not throw the frickin ball people were on his nuts.

Only time will tell, I for one am anxious to see what happens - and really just anxious for a conclusion to the whole mess.

Say what you will about Cutler, he is still a Pro Bowl QB and better than any other option that the Broncos have.

And yet how many playoff games have they won with him?

It's hard to win when your defense is the 4th worst in the league and dialing up cell phone salesmen to suit up as a RB for that weekend. QB's aren't the only player on the field.

I agree, so then why worry about dealing with a whiny one when you aren't going to win anyways?

cutler to niners?

The Denver Broncos have the framework of a deal in place to trade disgruntled starting quarterback Jay Cutler to the 49ers, a source close to the team reports. The 49ers will reportedly send their first and third round pick in this year's draft (10th and 43rd overall), their second round pick in the 2010 draft, aging safety Mark Roman, and former first overall pick Alex Smith.

interesting if true.

edit- which it isn't :p
