were gonna have to be hearing about this on the news for the next 10 years. at least it will maybe put all that 9/11 stuff to rest, finally

I wonder if this is it?

and you wonder why half of us here wouldn't care if we read about your obituary in the paper.

GO FUCK YOURSELF.

or die, either one will suffice.

Interesting bit in that piece:
"The worst mass school murder in American history took place on May 18, 1927 in Bath Township, Mich., when a former school board member set off three bombs that killed 45 people."

I didn't know that. I had thought it was the Virginia Tech massacre.

Visited Bath this summer and while at the memorial a child of one of the people in the school (who obviously survived) came by and started chatting. Very somber place.

Holy fuck... I thought this was one of the "kid brought a gun to school, it went off", or a targeted shooting. Nearly 20 dead is the count right now.

On the other hand, Foxnews has a guy on who says that this will be the 9-11 of school security and there will be an armed police officer in every school soon.

My kids' elementary school already has one most of the time. Nice guy ^_^. We live out in a rural suburb in Georgia so there is zero reason for it I'm sure, but I am not at all opposed to it. This is a much smarter solution that disarming the law abiding citizens.

Yea it wasn't a kid at the elementary school. Apparently its where his mom worked and he had family issues (surprise)

There was one at all the schools I went to. Probably there more for potential gang issues than anything as nothing violent ever really happened.

Were you the 'genetic screening' guy? I just skimmed the thread, since these types of things are generally mostly mortified reactions. Rightly so.

I meant to mention that, actually- you can't do it. 'Psychopathy' and related are considered personality disorders, AFAIK. No real way to diagnose or treat them effectively. It's not the same as 'you're unusually depressed, you need some serotonin/dopamine/norepinephrine stimulation.' It's 'your brain doesn't work right. Cope or die.'

That's why I hate the blame game. The gun control stuff doesn't annoy me because I like guns and the ability to carry (or because even if I didn't, it's closing the barn door after the horse got out, traveled abroad, settled down, had a family, died of old age, and was turned into glue). It's that there must be SOMEONE or SOMETHING to blame.

Blame the person who did it. Oh wait, he's dead. Yeah, I know, not much closure there. Such is life.

Of course blame the person who did it. But nobody's going on a mass murdering spree with just a knife. Or even a handgun for that matter.

And then the lunatics will take their misery to some other, more accessible place.

I'm going to hug my son twice as hard when I get off work. This is really painful to hear. I know one thing for sure, if this were to ever happen to my son, the fucker better kill themselves or I'll do it for them.
